RES OFFSHORE SIGNS EPC CONTRACT FOR THE WEST OF DUDDON
SANDS OFFSHORE MET MAST
RES Offshore has signed an Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) contract for the design and installation of a
power performance met mast for the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm for ScottishPower
Renewables and DONG Energy.
The power performance met mast will record weather data to support the construction and operation phases
of the wind farm. Once the wind farm is constructed, the power performance met mast will be used for the
power curve warranty and wind farm power performance testing.
Located 14 kilometres offshore in the Irish Sea, the met mast lattice tower will be supported by a monopile
foundation that will be driven 22m in to the sea bed. The anticipated completion date is mid-2014.
Applying the extensive experience and expertise gained in UK offshore licence Rounds 1, 2 and 3, RES
Offshore will carry out the design of the monopile, transition piece, platform and systems integration inhouse.
Chris Morgan, CEO RES Offshore said:
"Securing this project is testament to the depth of expertise that RES Offshore has built in offshore wind.
This contract further builds on our established track record in offshore engineering, project management and
instrumentation and will demonstrate our skills and capacity to deliver offshore construction projects of the
highest quality. Our expert team will deliver to ScottishPower Renewables and DONG Energy a fantastic
project. "
Charlie Jordan, ScottishPower Renewables Project Director on the West of Duddon Sands project, said:
"We are pleased to be working with RES Offshore on this project, a company with a great deal of experience
and expertise working in the offshore wind sector. The met mast will be a key performance management tool
during the lifetime of the project, and will support the optimised performance of the wind farm."
RES Offshore has subcontracted the design and supply of the lattice tower to Carl C A/S. Burntisland
Fabrications Limited will fabricate the monopile, transition piece and platform at their yard in Arnish, on the
Isle of Lewis in north-west Scotland. The transportation and installation activities will be undertaken by
GeoSea S.A.
