General Info:
Three-person teams will collaborate to correctly spell a word given by the judge.
The word will be written on a white board so no one has to verbally spell the word.
White boards will be concealed until the judge requests that they be presented. A
correct spelling of the word will advance the team to the next word. A misspelled
word will result in the team being swatted from the Bee. Teams can be "Bought
Back" into the competition by themselves or anyone in attendance. "Life-Lines" will
also be available for purchase ahead of each swarm (round) and can be used to
solicit help in spelling a word from the audience. Teams will compete in swarms
with the top 3 teams competing in the final swarm.

Spelling Bee Rules
1. Three-person teams will collaborate to correctly spell a word given by the judge. The
word will be legibly written on a white board. Any question as to the legibility of a letter in
the word will make the word incorrect. White boards will be concealed until the judge
requests that they be presented. A correct spelling of the word will advance the team to the
next word. A misspelled word will result in the team being swatted from the Bee. (Please
see #6 & #7 below for a second chance)
2. No electronic equipment of any kind will be allowed by team members during the
spelling bee. Cheating is prohibited. Violators will be Stung (tased).
3. Teams will have 30 seconds to spell each word. Teams will be notified when 5 seconds
remains. When time has expired teams will be asked to lay their markers down.
4. Teams will compete in swarms (preliminary rounds) with the final team from each
swarm advancing to the final swarm, and the chance of becoming Queen Bee.
5. If a word eliminates all remaining teams in a swarm, all teams missing that word will be
reinstated.
6. Teams can be bought back into the Bee by themselves or anyone in attendance for $50.
Fly swatters will be available for those wanting to buy a team back in, auction style.
Anyone interested in buying a team back in will have 15 seconds from the time the team
has been swatted to do so. Referbees will be available to assist in the buy-back.
7. Teams can purchase Life-lines for $20 each, prior to the start of each swarm. A Life-line
will allow a team to consult with someone in attendance for help with the current word.
Life-lines do not permit the use of electronic devices. Life-lines can be used whenever the
team chooses, but must be used before the 30 second time limit has expired. Teams using a
Life-line will have an additional 30 seconds from the time they use their Life-line to present
their spelled word. Only the team using a Life-line will be allocated the additional time.
Life-lines can be kept for the final swarm, if not used.
How do all the support drones get involved?
Drone Betting Rules
Get involved and show your support by buying tickets to bet on the team you believe will
win each swarm, and the final round. Tickets are $5 each, or 6 for $25. Tickets purchased
will be placed in buckets for each team. Tickets will be sold prior to each swarm. At the
end of each preliminary swarm a ticket will be drawn from the winning team's bucket, and
the ticket holder will win $50. All tickets purchased for eliminated teams will be discarded.
Tickets from each preliminary round winning team will be retained for the final round. The
final round winning ticket, drawn from the winning team's bucket, will receive 50% of all
the ticket sales for the night. Bet as many times, and for as many teams, as you like.
