It is the policy of Central West Women’s Health Centre Inc. (CWWHC) that all staff:

Position Context
CWWHC is a not for profit organisation providing medical, counselling and education services
within a feminist framework, to disadvantaged women and children. It is governed by an elected
Board.
Currently there are five employed positions and five visiting practitioners. Casual staff may be
employed as required.
This position is funded by NSW Health (Western Local Health District).
The position requires a background in counselling (trauma specialist focus) and group work, plus
experience dealing with cultural difference and disadvantaged women, particularly those affected
by trauma (eg. physical, emotional, mental, sexual abuse and domestic/family violence).
Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide a generalist counselling service and group work for
disadvantaged women.

Person Specification
Criteria
 Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent and eligible for
appropriate professional membership above student level (eg. ARCAP, PACFA, AASW, APS)
 Minimum three years demonstrated counselling experience working with traumatised
populations - trauma specialist focus preferred or willingness to undertake training
 Understanding of abuse (eg. physical, emotional, mental, sexual), domestic/family violence and
issues of cultural difference
 Demonstrated experience in facilitation and group work, with appropriate qualifications
 Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
 Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and incorporate feedback on
performance
 Evidence of participation in personal therapeutic work
 Demonstrated ability to incorporate holistic approach and feminist perspective
 Proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications
 Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle

A. Program Delivery
1. Counselling
1.1. Provide short, medium or long-term counselling for women, and their families, where
appropriate.
1.2. Meet KPIs for minimum number of counselling sessions annually, working in
collaboration with Administrator to manage allocation of appointments, intakes and
waitlisted clients.
1.3. Provide intake appointments for all new generalist counselling referrals.
1.4. Use NSW Government Domestic Violence Safety Assessment Tool for all clients
indicating domestic/family violence.
1.5. Assist women with domestic violence safety planning where appropriate and refer to
appropriate services.
1.6. Assist clients to identify counselling goals/plan by second session, with written record
on file.
1.7. Participate in case conferences (internal & external), where appropriate.
1.8. Respond to crisis calls (telephone or drop in); provide interim counselling and referral,
where appropriate.
1.9. Provide clients with information and referral to other community, health, legal and
welfare agencies, as appropriate.
1.10. Maintain client records (data entry, intake notes, session notes) that meet all legal
and professional requirements.
1.11. Actively promote Centre group programs and other services (eg. visiting doctors, CAT
counsellor, yoga, walking group, education/health promotion programs, and other
visiting practitioners) to clients, where appropriate.

1.12. Actively encourage client payment of counselling fees.
1.13. Provide support to female partners of men attending Corrective Services Domestic
Abuse Program, as per Memorandum of Understanding with NSW Department of
Corrective Services.
1.14. Collect, enter and regularly review necessary data for the effective delivery of a
generalist counselling program.
2. Evidenced Based Group Program Delivery
2.1. Recruitment, preparation, planning and co-facilitation of Out of the Dark – Family
Violence Support Program for Women (four per financial year - 2 programs inconjunction with Health Promotion Worker).
2.2. Recruitment, preparation, planning and facilitation of Mindfulness Program (two per
financial year).
2.3. Complete group program record for all groups conducted and enter data in database.
B. Partnerships & Networking
3. Partnerships
3.1. Maintain partnership with NSW Department of Corrective Services, as per Copyright
Licence Deed, for the on-going delivery of Out of the Dark Program.
3.2. Maintain partnerships with Relationships Australia, Bathurst Women’s & Children’s
Refuge, Bathurst Family Support Service & Bathurst Community Health Centre for the
on-going co-facilitation and delivery of Out of the Dark Program.
4. Networking
4.1. Participate in Bathurst Family Violence Awareness Group meetings and activities.
4.2. Attend appropriate networking activities and meetings for the development and
promotion of Centre activities.
C. Continuous Quality Improvement
5. Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of counselling (Outcome Rating Scales,
Session Rating Scales & evaluation forms) and group program (Group Session Rating
Scales, evaluation forms & program records) delivery.
6. Participate in monthly clinical supervision.
7. Attend yearly professional development in relation to generalist counselling practice.
8. Contribute to development and review of policy and procedures relevant to the position.
