Cafe O`Play New Pricing FAQ November 2015 Why no more

Cafe O’Play New Pricing FAQ November 2015 Why no more memberships? We realized that both our customers and we the owners were treating these “memberships” more as discounted admission passes rather than a true membership program so we felt a change would be more consistent with how they are actually used. How have prices changed? In talking with and listening to customers over the last year we wanted to change the structure of our pass pricing to meet several needs. 1) Many of our grandparent customers use the 10Play pass so they can bring different sets of grandkids to Cafe O’Play. However the pricing on these passes did not account for the Grandparent discount. Reducing the price of these play passes makes this an even more affordable option and more inline with the discount we want to give grandparents. 2) We heard from larger families that they felt Cafe O’Play was not affordable for them. So we dropped the “4 or more children” level and turned the previous one to “3 or more children.” Previously a family of 4 would have paid $170 for a month pass, now they pay $107. 3) The majority of our customers buying monthly or annual passes have been in the 1 child family category. Many of these families have very small children and have expressed concern that their toddlers have to pay the same as school age children. We took that into account and have discounted the 1 child family levels more than the others, in part, because of this. 4) In pricing out the Seasonal Pass we realize that (on a per child basis) 2 and 3 child families pay a bit more than 1 child families. There’s a few reasons for this. One very significant one is that as children get older they put more wear & tear on our play structure and need more staff supervision. We’ve had to repair cracks in the drywall, rips in the netting, we’ve bought several sets of ballsoctopipigs that kids enjoy because they literally had the stuffing knocked out of them. One and two year olds are not doing that. Older kids are and as we looked at this business we realized that the older kids are, the more they cost us and we set the multichild levels accordingly. 5) While the 2 and 3 or more children Seasonal Passes might be more per child than the first level, they are still a significant savings for families. Last year a 3 Child Family Seasonal Pass would have cost $384, today it is $299. If that 3 Child Family comes to Cafe O’Play once during the week and once on the weekend over this winter and pay general admission, that would be $684. With the 3 Child Family Seasonal Pass they would save $384 and would on average only pay $4.15 per child per visit. We believe that is a value for any family. Cafe O’Play is a family owned and operated business. We are not a national franchise with reams of marketing data. We are doing our best to price our business in such a way that we can pay our great staff, make a living, and provide value to families. We welcome all our customers feedback and are happy to hear any thoughts, suggestions, or concerns that you might have about this new pricing or any aspect of our business. We are in this together and we want Cafe O’Play to continue to be a success and a blessing to families in northeast Ohio. Feel free to call or email us with any questions or concerns you might have.
