If one or more of the five main numbers is from 1 to 7, it is possible that the same
number could be drawn as the Grand Number (GN). However, the Grand Number
cannot be used in place of one of the main numbers to win a prize.
The top prize for matching all five main numbers and the Grand Number is
$1,000 a day for life or the second prize of $25,000 a year for life for matching
all 5 main numbers. And for life means for life! Annuity payments last for the life*
of the winner. However, if there is more than one winner for either the top prize

On each $3 DAILY GRAND ticket you will have a selection of five main numbers, as
well as a Grand Number, which is chosen from a range of 1 to 7. The Grand Number
(GN) can be used to win a prize, even if you haven’t matched any main numbers.

trailer (e.g. 12345678-01). Tickets with multiple LOTTO 6/49 selections have multiple
Guaranteed Prize Draw selections, which print as a range. The first eight digits are
the same, and the last two digits increase by one for each additional selection on the
ticket (e.g. 12345678-01 to 12345678-06).
One winning Guaranteed Prize Draw selection will be drawn from those issued to
guarantee there is a winning ticket for each draw. Since each Guaranteed Prize Draw
selection is unique, it will not be possible for two tickets to share the same number.

Each combination of six numbers is played as if it were a single selection on a single
ticket. The odds of winning on a combination play ticket are determined by the game
played and the number of combinations.
For each combination selection in the main draw numbers on your ticket, you will
receive a Guaranteed Prize selection.
You will receive a ticket showing the selection of numbers and the draw date(s).
The computer system will record and keep track of each possible combination.
Select 5, 7, 8 or 9 numbers. You can use a LOTTO 6/49/WESTERN 649 Combo
selection slip, or ask for a combination quick pick.

WHY DO I HAVE TO PUT MY NAME ON MY TICKET?
We recommend you print your name on all your lottery tickets at the time of purchase,
as this prevents another person from claiming any major prize, should the ticket be
lost. In addition, retailers cannot check or validate lottery tickets unless your name
is printed or legibly signed on the ticket. A signature line is provided on the front
for validation purposes, and it’s also a good idea to print your name, address and
telephone number on the back.
Prizes are payable to the holder(s)
whose name(s) appears on a ticket, and
identification is required when the ticket
is presented for prize claim at any Prize
Payout Office. If your name, address, and
daytime telephone number are printed
on the back of the ticket, another person
could not claim your prize.
HOW DO I CLAIM A PRIZE?
The original winning ticket must be presented to claim a prize.
Prizes of $1,000 or less may be claimed at any Lottery Ticket Centre able to pay the
prize. Although retailers are asked to pay prizes up to $200, not all retail locations offer
a redemption service for larger amounts. Before handing your ticket to the retailer to cash,
it is recommended that you know how much you have won and ask them if they have the
funds available to pay the prize.
Prizes over $1,000 and merchandise prizes may be claimed at any Prize Payout Office
within WCLC’s region. Government issued photo identification is required. For further
claim information, including prize office locations, call 1-800-665-3313.

1. SIGN IT: Print or legibly sign your name on your tickets as soon as possible after
purchase. This can be helpful if your tickets are lost, and retailers cannot check or
validate tickets until your name is on it.
5. GET YOUR TICKET BACK: Paid winning tickets are to be torn in two and
given back to you along with the prize. All other tickets – non-winning or eligible
for prizes the retailer does not pay – are to be returned to you in one piece.
2. CHECK IT: Always check your ticket(s) against the winning numbers after the
draw, or for SCRATCH ’N WIN tickets, review the play instructions on the back. You
can also use a Ticket Checker to confirm the status (winning or non-winning) of all
tickets – including SCRATCH ’N WIN - prior to having the retailer validate them.
If you have any concerns about the awarding of a prize, you have the
right to refuse payment and take your intact ticket back. You can then
call 1-800-665-3313 for further instructions.
3. HEAR THE SOUND; WATCH THE MONITOR: The Customer Display
Unit (CDU) displays the prize amount of any winning ticket checked in the
terminal, or whether it is a non-winner. The terminal makes a sound –
“Cha-ching, Woo-hoo!” – when a winning ticket is checked. If your Advance Play
ticket still has draws remaining, a voice will also instruct the retailer to give you
your Replacement ticket. For prizes over $1,000, you will hear, “Please, do not
tear the ticket!” and the terminal will make a different winning sound
(trumpet fanfare).
4. GET YOUR VALIDATION SLIP: A Validation Slip is generated when your
ticket is checked through the ticket terminal, and it indicates the status of your
ticket and any prize amount won. You can also compare the Validation Slip to the
ticket number to ensure they match.
• Other than putting your name on the front, and your name, address and
daytime phone number in the Claim Form on the back, don’t write or
mark anything else on the front or back of the tickets. If you win a prize
that must be claimed from a Prize Office, any additional markings must be
investigated and may delay payment.
• Always complete your selection slip in pencil. Using ink can damage the
ticket terminal and it may not be able to read your selection slip.
• When buying your lottery tickets, check before
leaving the store to ensure you have all the tickets you
paid for, and that they are correct. Once the player
has left the point of purchase, WCLC considers the
transaction complete.

TORN AND RETURNED?
You should always receive the Validation Slip that shows the winning prize amount, if
any. If your ticket is a non-winner, or if it is eligible for a prize the retailer cannot pay,
you should also receive the original ticket back, in one piece.
No, tickets paid at Prize Offices must be kept on file at WCLC.
If the ticket has won a prize that the retailer can pay, and you accept the prize, the
retailer should tear the ticket in two and return both pieces to you.
If the ticket is worth $10,000 or more, the terminal will freeze temporarily,
additional information will appear on the monitor that
faces you, and the retailer will call WCLC to “register” your win and provide you with
additional claim instructions.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF A RETAILER DOESN’T
RETURN MY TICKET?
You should ask for the ticket to be returned to you. Any questions or concerns
regarding prize payment and validation procedures followed at retail should be
directed to the WCLC toll-free number, 1-800-665-3313, provided on all tickets.

You should always take responsibility for your tickets and check the tickets yourself
to see if they have won a prize. The official winning numbers and prize amounts are
available in ‘flipper’ display units at retail, and winning numbers are also published on
sasklotteries.ca and by assorted media outlets. It doesn’t take long to check your
selection(s), and this ensures that you will know if you are entitled to a prize, and the
value of that prize.
Ticket Checkers are also available for your convenience. They allow you to check all
tickets, including SCRATCH ’N WIN.

No. There are five lottery regions in Canada, and each has its own computer system
that records lottery purchases in its region. Tickets that are not purchased in the
Prairies and the North are not registered in the WCLC computer system and therefore
must be cashed by the jurisdiction responsible for the sale.
To claim a prize on a ticket from another jurisdiction, you must mail your ticket to the
address shown on the back of the ticket. Make sure your name and return address are
printed in the Claim Form on the back of the ticket.

Of every dollar spent on tickets for all Lottery games, approximately
51.3 percent goes back to players in the form of prizes. Lottery retail
commissions are approximately 7.0 percent of sales. Western Canada Lottery
Corporation operating expenses are approximately 6.4 percent of sales, with
ticket printing accounting for an additional 1.0 percent. The remaining
34.3 percent is revenue returned to WCLC’s members – the provinces
of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and associate members Yukon,
Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
Revenue is based on sales from each member province or territory. Each
provincial and territorial government establishes its own priorities for
disbursement of Lottery funds. Contact the organizations on page 52 for
further information.
WHAT HAPPENS TO UNCLAIMED PRIZES?
Unclaimed prizes on national games are returned to players through
guaranteed jackpots and bonus draws. Unclaimed prizes on regional games
are used to enhance existing prize structures, or are returned to member
provinces and territories as revenue.

WHAT IS A PARI-MUTUEL SHARE?

A pari-mutuel share is a calculation where the total monies allocated to a prize
category are divided by the total number of winners in that category.
Examples of games that offer pari-mutuel prizes are LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX
and POOLS.

HOW ARE REGIONAL DRAWS CONDUCTED?
Group Buying Agreements (GBAs) are available as a convenience for groups
who participate in lottery games – including groups who play by subscription,
and they may be required when a group claims a prize. The GBA should
include: the group’s trustee, the type of game, the draw date, the winning
ticket’s Control Number, and each member’s name, address, telephone number,
share and signature. It does not have to be completed before a notary public
or any other legal representative.
More than 850 draws are conducted each year for Western Canada
Lottery Corporation’s (WCLC) five regional games – WESTERN 649,
WESTERN MAX, POKER LOTTO, EXTRA and PICK 3. These draws
are held at WCLC’s Head Office in Winnipeg and are conducted on
stand-alone computerized draw machines.
Copies of the GBA are available free of charge at lottery Retail locations. A
printable electronic copy is available on our website, sasklotteries.ca.
Informal lottery groups (co-workers, friends, neighbours) who play together on
an occasional basis, should ensure they have a common understanding about
the group’s membership when participating in any particular draw.
A new GBA should be completed whenever there is a change in a group.
As with the national games, stringent controls and security
measures are in place for each regional game draw. Two
computerized draw machines are available for each draw,
and they are located in a secure location that is monitored by
video surveillance 24 hours a day. An auditor, who oversees
the draw, selects which draw machine is to be used for any given
draw. Security personnel attend and conduct each draw, and all
draws are videotaped using an automated time-date stamp.
The computerized draw machines’ Random Number Generators
were initially tested by two independent laboratories to ensure
the randomness of their number selection. Draw software was
also tested independently and certified as accurate. Independent
testing of randomness and software is mandatory when regional
games are added or removed, or significant changes are made to existing games.

WHAT IS A GROUP BUYING AGREEMENT?

LOTTO 6/49 draws and LOTTO MAX main draws are
made using ball-draw machines. The 49 balls are placed
in numerical order in the ball rack of the draw machine.
The entire draw process is initiated by pushing a button
which releases the balls into the mixing drum which is
spun for a minimum of 10 seconds before a piston
automatically begins to raise balls and drop them one
by one into the ball tray.
For LOTTO 6/49 draws, seven balls (six main numbers
and one Bonus number) are drawn. For LOTTO MAX
draws, eight balls (seven main numbers and one Bonus
number) are drawn. One by one, each ball is raised by the
piston out of the mixing drum and into the ball traps on the
sides of the draw machine.
DAILY GRAND draws, as well as the additional draws for
MAXMILLIONS on LOTTO MAX, and Guaranteed Prize Draws on
LOTTO 6/49 take place using a computerized draw machine.
Strict controls and security measures are in place for every draw. All draws are
videotaped and an external auditor, an external trust officer and a draw supervisor are
present at each draw. The external auditor witnesses the draw and officially records
the winning numbers. The trust officer is responsible for the security of the draw, which
includes the loading of the required balls/numbers into the draw machine, and the
draw supervisor ensures that all draw procedures are followed.
Stringent controls are also in place
with respect to draw machines and
draw balls. Draw machines are kept in
a secure area which is monitored at all
times, and draw balls are kept in cases
that are locked and sealed. These balls
are used for every draw and undergo
monthly testing to ensure that each ball
meets strict requirements. If a ball does
not meet these requirements, the entire
set of balls is replaced.

$1 MILLION GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW?
Yes, on SPORT SELECT, the maximum amount an individual can wager on any
SPORT SELECT product (except POOLS) per day at any retail location is $500.
This includes Combo Play.
For every $3 LOTTO 6/49 selection you purchase, or for every Free Play issued,
you will automatically receive an entry for the Guaranteed Prize Draw. Tickets with
multiple LOTTO 6/49 selections will have multiple Guaranteed Prize Draw selections.
The $1 million Guaranteed Prize selection is drawn separately from the main
LOTTO 6/49 draw.
There is a $1,000 transaction limit on all lottery tickets. Some Advance Play and
multiple ticket options are no longer available on draw-based tickets, including
combination play. This limit is per terminal transaction, but does not limit how
much can be purchased.
For example, a 9-Number LOTTO 6/49 combination is not available for four
Advance Play draws, because the transaction would exceed the $1,000 limit
($252 x 4 = 1,008). In order to process the ticket, the player could have a 9-number
combination ticket for a maximum of three draws. However, a retailer could process
a number of tickets totaling more than $1,000 for a customer, provided no one
transaction exceeded that $1,000 limit on its own.

‘GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW’ SELECTION?
No, Guaranteed Prize Draw selections are unique. No two tickets will share the same
number. We will draw one winning selection – only from those issued – to guarantee
there is a winning ticket for each draw.
