Engagement Series Overview
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT MASTERY SERIES (EEM): 8 CLASSES
1. Fundamentals of Employee Engagement: (8 hrs.)
Analyze and understand a model-based system that enables you to explain the
principles of engagement and provides you with the strategy and tactics for
developing a culture of engagement at your company. Illustrations and diagrams
are used to help visualize the concepts, models, work flows and tools that make up
the system.
2. Mastering the Engagement Survey: (Two 4 hour sessions.)
Session 1 includes a detailed examination of the model-based survey structure and
content. It includes analysis of drill-down capabilities and discussion of how the
survey structure produces actionable results at all levels. Homework is used to
internalize the learning by conducting a mini-survey in your organization.
Session 2 includes instructor-led group analysis and discussion of your survey
results.
Course #1 is a prerequisite.
3a. How to Design Dashboards, ScoreCards and Incentive Pay: (Two 4 hour sessions.)
Session 1 includes a detailed examination of the ScoreCard structure, content and
the design process. The course includes explanation of the process used to identify
the key performance objectives and how to measure performance. Motivational
theory is used to explain the tactics for linking pay to ScoreCard performance. The
components of gamification are identified and examined. Homework is used
internalize the learning by developing a ScoreCard for a department in your
organization.
Session 2 includes instructor-led group analysis and discussion of your ScoreCard
and incentive design.
3b. ScoreCards and Incentive Pay - Mastering the Design Elements (8 hrs.)
This course examines the details of designing a ScoreCard and Incentive Pay plan.
Extensive time is spent on performance measures, explaining the formulas, tips and
traps that occur in more sophisticated ScoreCard designs.
Course #3a is a prerequisite.
4. How to Develop Process and Social Maps: (Two 4 hour sessions.)
Process maps display information about the flow of work. Social maps display
information about the personal relationships involved in getting work done.
Session 1 includes a detailed examination of the technique for developing process
and social maps. Homework is used to internalize the learning by developing a
process and social map for a department in your organization.

Session 2 includes instructor-led group analysis and discussion of your maps and
the implications they reveal.
5. How to Lead a Department Action Team (DAT): (Two 4 hour Sessions.)
Department Action Teams are the heart of engagement. They are a simple and
proven process that enables employees to participate.
Session 1 is a detailed examination of the DAT process. It includes examination of
the types of information and tools that employees need to solve problems and
create improvement. Homework is used to internalize the learning by conducting a
pilot DAT at your organization.
Session 2 includes instructor-led group analysis and discussion of your offsite DAT
practice. Includes an overview of the DAT administrative software.

6. VALUE - How to Measure and Develop the Engagement Skills of Executives: (4 hrs.)
Leadership skills and behaviors that support change are essential for the success of
any engagement initiative.
Learn how to use the VALUE Assessment to measure and coach the development of
senior management's ability to support engagement. This tool guides executives as
they create individual plans to support and be held accountable for the engagement
process.

7. How to Customize and Use the Accomplishments Review System (ARS): (4 hrs.)
Examine and understand a performance evaluation system designed specifically to
support and develop engagement within a culture of partnership.

8. How to Develop and Sustain a Successful Recognition Program: (Two 4 hour
sessions.)
Session 1 is an examination of the psychology fundamentals of recognition and an
analysis of the components of a successful recognition program design. An emphasis
is placed on the role of intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. Homework is used to
internalize the learning by developing a pilot recognition plan for your organization.
Session 2 includes instructor-led group analysis and discussion of your off-site
design results.

CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY
Facilitator Certification: (8 classes in the EEM series)
Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate implementation of an employee
engagement program.
Program Management Certificate: Implementing Engagement (16 hrs.)
Prerequisite: Employee Engagement Mastery Series
This course translates the EEM series projects into a detailed and coordinated program
management document. This document is essential to establishing Engagement as a line
item in the business strategy. The PM document defines the purpose and tracks the
status of all projects in the Engagement Program. The document is used to coordinate
and support project-level activity and balance implementation of the projects to meet
pre-defined engagement objectives.
Department Manager Certification: (24 hrs.)
Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to support employee engagement in your
department.
