THINKING OF STUDYING FOR A MASTER?
METME is an advanced education program aimed at
training specialists in economic analysis applied to the
monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of projects and
policies.
The master provides analytical and quantitative tools on
M&E, integrating theoretical knowledge and its application
to real economic problems, to address today’s economic
challenges faced by economies highly specialized on
tourism.

WHAT IS MONITORING AND EVALUATION?
MONITORING?
 The systematic collection of data on specified indicators
during a certain period of time
 Provides managers and stakeholders with indications of the
extent of progress and achievement of objectives
EVALUATION?
 The systematic and objective assessment of the
effectiveness, efficiency and equity of a project, program or
policy
 Attempts to measure the economic impact of the project to
determine the fulfilment of its objectives

MAIN FEATURES OF THE PROGRAMME
 Duration of study? One academic year (60 ECTS)
 When do lectures start? First week of October

 How much does the master cost? Between €1,800
(EU-students) and €2,300 (non EU-students)

WHAT SKILLS WILL I ACQUIRE?
METME graduates are expected to acquire skills to…
Contribute to the planning, monitoring and evaluation of
policies, programmes and projects of a tourism company,
destination or region.
Define and design the key indicators to monitor and evaluate
projects.
Collect, generate, process and analyse statistical data to
support monitoring and evaluation activities.
Know and understand the diverse impact that tourism
development can have on social wellbeing (environment, health,
equality of opportunities).
Undertake basic research activities and present the results in
a scientific format.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATES?
Graduates are expected to go on taking a PhD, working at
research institutes or pursuing careers in the public or
private sectors.
The master will give the necessary qualifications to take
up positions such as:
 Project manager for R&D or strategic management departments
 Freelance consultant on strategic project management, or on the
design of policies and projects
 Expert in the M&E of projects and policies for international
institutions (WTO, EU, etc.), or in a private company in the tourism
sector

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
Who can enrol on the master?
All applicants must:
1. Hold a degree from a European University (or equivalent)
2. Have language skills equivalent to the B2 level in English
What factors are considered in the admission?
All applications will be evaluated on the basis of:
1. Nature of degree held
2. Performance and average grade in the undergraduate
degree
3. Professional experience in the fields of economics/tourism
