Playground Supervision
Teachers
 Please be on time for duty.
 Continuously move through the duty area, including the toilet blocks, to
ensure all children are well supervised and playing within designated play
area.
 Year 6 ‘Playground Pals’ to assist teachers in the 3-6 playground at recess
and lunch
 Inform the executive of variations to the duty roster due to excursions or
absences etc.
 Please be prompt to collect your class at recess and lunch from designated
areas.
 Do not leave a class unsupervised at any time.
Parents
 Are requested not to drop their children at school before 8:40am as there is
no direct teacher supervision at this time.
 Students arriving earlier than 8:40am should be enrolled in KAMBOOSH
(Kambora Before and After School Care )
 There is no after-school supervision for students after the 3:10pm dismissal
bell. Parents are requested to closely supervise their children if remaining in
the playground after this time.
 The same out of bounds areas apply at this time as during school hours.ie no
play behind the stage area and the bush area in the K-2 playground. Parents
are requested to vacate the school grounds by 3:30 pm in order that students
attending KAMBOOSH can use this area for supervised activities.
 Please notify the school office if you will be late in picking your child up from
school. Students left unattended in the playground after school will be directed
to KAMBOOSH in order that they can be safely supervised.
 Cars are not permitted on school grounds for the purpose of dropping off and
picking up students, except in the event of colleting a sick child.
 Parents dropping off their children at KAMBOOSH are requested to use the
lower car park adjacent to KAMBOOSH or to park in Woolrych Crescent and
walk their children in.
Students
 Are not permitted to leave the school grounds during school hours unless they
are under the direct supervision of their parents (or a teacher, in the case of
an approved school excursion)
 Students arriving late or leaving the school early must be signed in/out of the
school at the office by their parents.

For safety reasons, students are not permitted to use the main office entrance
in the carpark, adjacent to the school office. The student entrance is located
adjacent to the Uniform Shop.
Are requested to walk their bicycles from the school gates to the designated
bike racks located outside the uniform shop.
SunSafe
No Hat, No Play Policy
Students without a school hat are to sit in the following areas: K-1 under the undercover area adjacent to picnic seats in K-2 playground
 2-6 under the COLA.
 Sunscreen for student use is located in classroom wet areas.
Before School- 8:40-9:10am (K-2 Playground)
 Students arriving at school prior to 8:40am must sit on the seats in the K-2
playground until the teacher on duty arrives at 8:40am.
 Students in K-2 are only permitted in the building before school to drop off
their bag and then must immediately proceed to the K-2 playground.
 Students in Years 3-6 are not permitted in classrooms before school.
 Students in 3-6 should place their bags in the designated area behind the
Year 2 classrooms in the K-2 playground.
 8:40am – teacher on morning duty.
 Students are only permitted to use small handballs at this time to play
handball and other safe games where no one is at risk of being hit by a ball.
 Students are not permitted on the equipment.
 Students with no hats sit under the undercover area.
 9:10am – students line up in designated areas prior to commencement of
class.
Recess-11:10-11:30am (3-6 oval)
 Tennis and small balls only.
 Students must sit in designated areas to eat their morning tea before playing.
 Students forward to lines at end of recess.
 Kindergarten students line up outside the Year 6 classroom.
 Students in Years 1-6 assemble under the COLA for a brief assembly.
Lunch
1:00 – 2:00pm
 All students remain under the supervision of their class teacher for first 10
minutes to eat lunch. This may be either in the classroom or at a designated
area outside the classroom.
First Half Lunch:
1:10-1:35pm
 1:10 bell signals commencement of first half lunch.
 Students who have finished eating may proceed to play areas. Those still
eating must sit in their designated area in playground until they have finished
eating. The duty teacher is to supervise those students still eating.

Students may purchase goods from the canteen at this time on Monday,
Thursday and Friday. Students must return to their playground to sit and eat
their purchases.
Senior students will monitor canteen lines for the first 20 minutes after eating
bell or until the majority of students have finished purchasing. No purchases
are to be made after 1:40pm.
Students visiting the canteen are not permitted to walk through the car park.
Students are able to borrow equipment from the sports storeroom in the 3-6
playground or from sports monitors in the K-2 Playground.
Second Half Lunch:
1:35-2:00pm
 Duty teacher starts at 1:35pm. Please be prompt.
 1:50pm - Warning bell and pack up sandpit and equipment in K-2 and return
sports equipment. This is also their toilet and drink time.
 Bell rings at 1:55pm.
 K-1 students assemble on the rubber tiles in K-2 area for brief assembly.
 2-6 students assemble under the COLA for a brief assembly.
 The Library is open from 1:35 – 1:55pm on Mondays. Students are to line up
at the double glass doors adjacent to the library in the K-2 playground.
Students are only permitted in the building at lunch time to walk to the canteen.
PLAYGROUND BEHAVIOUR
 Minor misdemeanours are recorded in Playground Book and will be reviewed
by the Executive.
 The 2-6 oval playground book is kept in the wet area attached to the
Japanese room.
 The K-1 Playground book is kept in the Kindergarten classroom.
 Major misdemeanours would require an Incident Report. Please complete
these in conjunction with a member of the executive. Incident reports are
tracked and stored in the principal’s office.
3:10pm End of school
 Students are expected to depart their classrooms quickly and are not
encouraged to remain behind after school.
 Students attending KAMBOOSH are to be directed there by their class
teacher. Kindergarten students are collected by KAMBOOSH staff outside the
Kindergarten classroom.
 Bus students are to line up at library steps near Kambora Avenue entrance.
 The supervising teacher is to arrive promptly as close to the departure bell as
possible and supervise students exiting from the Kambora Avenue entrance.
Students are to be encouraged to only use the Kambora Avenue steps to
leave the school grounds. The bus duty teacher is to wait at the Kambora
Avenue exit until 3:20pm before walking students catching the bus to the bus
stop in Woolrych Crescent. Students are to remain seated at the bus stop until
the bus arrives.
 Teacher on duty is to remain on duty until the bus departs.

Safe Play
3-6 Playground
 Students are permitted to play on the oval and other grassed areas adjacent
to Alt Crescent homes, netball court, COLA, chess area and cricket nets.
Out of Bounds Areas
 Behind the BER building and train
 Bush area adjacent to Kambora Ave and Alt Crescent
 Areas passed the cricket nets on Kambora Avenue.
K-2 Playground
 Students are to play in the area bounded by the path leading from the school
gate to the KAMBOOSH building on the southern side of the K-2 playground
and the Kindergarten rooms on the northern boundary.

 Bush area behind the stage
 Behind the buildings
 Driveway and grass area across the driveway.
Band
 Students arriving early for band rehearsal are to enter the building via the
‘student’ entrance adjacent to the Uniform Shop.
 For safety reasons, students are not permitted to enter the main entrance
adjacent to the staff car park.
