Registration Process Type in the URL of e-Filing application (https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in) Click on the 'Register Yourself' tab and select 'Individual' against the radio button found under “Individual/HUF”. The user will be directed to the registration page and the user will fill the following fields for further validation. PAN – Mandatory, should be valid PAN. Surname –Mandatory, should be as per the PAN details. First Name – Not mandatory, should be as per the PAN details. Middle Name - Not mandatory, should be as per the PAN details. Page 3 Individual User Registration and Services Date of Birth – Mandatory, should be as per the PAN details. Click on the “Continue” button. The registration details page should be displayed. A. Password Details User ID – This will be automatically populated by the system, which is entered in the Basic Details screen. Password – Mandatory, should be between 8 – 14 characters, alphanumeric and should contain at least one special character. Confirm Password – Mandatory, The user has to enter the same password as entered above. Page 4 Individual User Registration and Services Primary Secret Question – Mandatory, The user needs to select any one question from available in the drop down. Primary Secret Answer – Mandatory. Secondary Secret Question – Mandatory, The user needs to select any one question from available in the drop down. Secondary Secret Answer – Mandatory. B. Personal Details These details could be automatically populated by previously entered basic details. C. Contact Details Landline Number – Not mandatory. Mobile Number – Mandatory. If the user is an Non-Resident, Mobile Numberisnot mandatory. Alternate Mobile Number - Non mandatory. Email ID – Mandatory, should be valid E-mail ID. Alternate Email ID - Non mandatory, should be valid E-mail ID. Fax Number – Non-mandatory. Note: Same Mobile Number and Email ID can be used for a maximum of 10 assessees, as their Primary Contact details. Page 5 Individual User Registration and Services Note:If the user is anNon-Resident,click the checkbox “I’m an NonResident,without Indian Mobile number”. In this case Mobile Number is not mandatory. All the communications are handled through E-mail ID. D. Current Address Flat/Door/Building – Mandatory. Road/Street – Non-mandatory. Area/Locality – Mandatory. Town/City/District – Mandatory. State – Mandatory, user selects from the drop down provided. Pincode –Mandatory. Country- Mandatory,user selects from the drop down provided. E. Subscribe to Mailing List Page 6 Individual User Registration and Services This will be auto-selected. User can un-check the box provided to unsubscribe for mailing list. F. Enable Alerts, reminder and notifications This will be auto-selected. User can un-check the box provided to disable alerts, reminders and notification. G. Captcha This is mandatory and the user has to type in the numeric code which appears on the screen. Click on ‘SUBMIT’. If it is success, user will be navigated to the “Registration successful” screen. Page 7 Individual User Registration and Services The user receives a confirmation e-mail with an activation link to the registered Email ID. An SMS along with OTP (One time Password) is also sent to the registered Mobile number. In order to activate the account, the user should click on the Activation link and enter the Mobile PIN. On success, the user account is activated and the database is updated. For Non-Resident User, Mobile PIN is exempted. Activation link is sent to the e-mail only. In order to activate the account, the user should click on the Activation link and enter the Email PINsent to the e-mail ID. On success, the user account is activated and the database is updated. Page 8 Individual User Registration and Services Individual User Features Forgot Password In e-Filing application home page, click ‘Login Here’ button. Click Forgot Password Link. Enter User ID and captcha Click Continue. I. Select the option, Answer Secret Question. Enter Date of Birth, Secret Question and Secret Answer Page 9 Individual User Registration and Services II. III. I. II. Click Submit. Enter New Password and Confirm Password. Click Submit Select the option, Upload Digital signature Certificate. Select one of the option, Upload using .pfx file Click Submit. Click Submit Using OTP (PINs) The user must select one of the options mentioned below If “Registered Email ID and Mobile Number” is chosen. PINs would be sent to registered Email ID and Mobile Number. OR If “New Email ID and Mobile Number” is chosen. User must enter additional details like 26AS TAN/ OLTAS CIN/ Bank Account Number. PINs would be sent to new Email ID and Mobile Number. The user must enter the PINs received to the registered Email ID and Mobile Number and Click on “VALIDATE”. Page 11 Individual User Registration and Services On success, the user must enter the New Password and confirm the password. Click Submit I. II. Select the option, Using Aadhaar OTP. Select one of the option, Using Aadhaar OTP Click Generate Aadhaar OTP. Aadhaar OTP will be sent to the Mobile Number registered with Aadhaar. Page 12 Individual User Registration and Services III. Enter the Aadhaar OTP generated. Click on “Validate” button. IV. Enter New Password and Confirm Password. V. Click Submit Login through your net-banking account Link “e-Filing login through Net-Banking” is available which guides user to Login through net banking account. Page 13 Individual User Registration and Services Login In browser, enter the URL of the e-Filing application (https://Incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in). Click ‘Login Here’ button. Enter User name (PAN/TAN), password, DOB ,Captcha code or OTP Option. Page 14 Individual User Registration and Services If the User has selected the Check box, on Successful Validation of the User ID, Password and Date of Birth, an OTP shall be sent to User’s Registered Mobile Number. The below message should be displayed to the User “OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number <XXXXXXXXXX>”. Continue and Cancel shall be provided. On click of ‘Continue’ button, User needs to enter 6 digit OTP sent to the registered Mobile number. Enter OTP and click on ‘Submit’ button. On Successful Verification of OTP, the User shall be redirected to dashboard page. Page 15 Individual User Registration and Services Verification and Confirm Contact Details On Successful Login, If User has not updated Contact Details the user is requested to update a valid Mobile number and E-mail ID or confirm the Mobile number and Email ID already registered is their profile. (Department would share all critical communications only to the mobile number and Email ID registered in e-Filing portal.) The user can edit his details and click on the “Continue” button. User has to confirm the Contact details and Click on Continue button. Or click on Back button to change the details A mobile PIN and email PIN will be sent to the primary mobile number and primary Email ID respectively. Enter Mobile PIN and Email PIN is respective fields and click Continue button Page 16 Individual User Registration and Services If the PINs are not received within the specified time (say 2 minutes), the taxpayer may opt for “Resend PINs” option. The PINs once received will be valid for 24hours. A success message will be displayed. The user can click on “Continue to Login” button wherein the user will be taken to the Dashboard. Page 17 Individual User Registration and Services Profile Settings My Profile In order to view or update ‘My Profile’, the user needs to perform the following steps Go to the 'Profile settings’ and Click on the ‘My Profile’ link. A screen with PAN details, Address and Contact Details will be displayed. ‘PAN Details’ is only a view. User cannot update the PAN details. In order to change the address details Click on ‘Address’ tab and click on the ‘Edit’ button. Page 18 Individual User Registration and Services Update the required fields and click on ‘Save’ button. A success message is displayed as shown. In order to change the Contact details Click on ‘Contact Details’ tab and click on ‘Edit’ button. The user can edit the details and click on the ‘Save’ button. Once the Contact details are changed, the user must enter the Mobile PIN and the Email PIN which will be sent to the Mobile number and Email ID mentioned by the user respectively. Enter the Mobile PIN and Email PIN. Click on confirm. A success message will be displayed as follows Page 19 Individual User Registration and Services Change Password Navigate to Profile Settings Change Password Enter old password, new password, confirm password and click submit. Change Secret Question and Answer Navigate to Change Secret Question(s) and Answer(s). Page 20 Individual User Registration and Services Change Primary secret question, answer and Secondary secret question and answer. Click submit. Register Digital Signature Certificate Navigate to Profile settings -> Register digital signature certificate Upload the Signature file generated using DSC Management Utility. Click Submit. Success message will be displayed on the screen. e-Filing Vault-Higher Security In order to ensure additional security to the user’s e-Filing account, user is enabled to login through Net-Banking, using DSC, Aadhaar OTP, Bank account EVC and using Demat Account EVC. At any time, user can also deactivate the secured login. Navigate to Profile Settingse-Filing Vault-Higher Security. Page 21 Individual User Registration and Services Login through net-banking User needs to select the option “Login through net-banking”. Once the user selects the checkbox, below confirmation appears. Click “OK” and click the “Proceed” button. User will be redirected to a confirmation page. Page 22 Individual User Registration and Services Click on “Confirm” button. Success message is displayed on the screen. Next time the user logs in, the user is redirected to “e-Filing Login Through NetBanking” page where the user needs to select his / her bank and login to the bank. User can also deactivate the login through Net Banking by unchecking the same option and click on proceed. Click on the “Disable” button to confirm. Page 23 Individual User Registration and Services Login Using DSC User needs to select the option “Login using DSC”. Once the user selects the checkbox, below confirmation appears. Click “OK” and click the “Proceed” button. User will be redirected to a confirmation page. Click on “Confirm” button. Success message is displayed on the screen. Next time the user logs in, the user is redirected to Secured Login Option page where the user needs to select the either New or Registered DSC and upload the signature file generated using DSC Management Utility. Click Submit. Page 24 Individual User Registration and Services User will be redirected to e-Filing dashboard. User can also deactivate the login through DSC by unchecking the same option and click on proceed. Click on the “Disable” button to confirm. Login Using Aadhaar OTP User needs to select the option “Login using Aadhaar OTP”. Once the user selects the checkbox, below confirmation appears. Click “Generate Aadhaar OTP” button. Page 25 Individual User Registration and Services Aadhaar OTP is successfully generated and will be sent to the Mobile Number registered with Aadhaar. Enter the Aadhaar OTP and click Validate.Click on “OK” and click “Proceed” button. Success message is displayed on the screen. User can also deactivate the login through Aadhaar OTP by unchecking the same option and click on proceed. Click on the “Disable” button to confirm. Login Using Bank Account EVC User needs to select the option “Login using Bank Account EVC”. Once the user selects the checkbox, below confirmation appears and click on “OK” Page 26 Individual User Registration and Services Click on Proceed button. The following Confirmation screen is displayed to the user Click on Confirm button. Success message is displayed on the screen. User can also deactivate the login through Bank account EVC by unchecking the same option and click on proceed. Click on the “Disable” button to confirm. Login Using Demat Account EVC User needs to select the option “Login using Demat Account EVC”. Once the user selects the checkbox, below confirmation appears. Click on Proceed button. The following Confirmation screen is displayed to the user Page 27 Individual User Registration and Services Enter the Demat account EVC and click Validate. Click on “OK” and click “Proceed” button. Click on Confirm button. Success message is displayed on the screen] User can also deactivate the login through Demat account EVC by unchecking the same option and click on proceed. Click on the “Disable” button to confirm. For more details refer to the manual “e-Filing Vault-Higher Security” under Help section. My Account View Form 26AS (Tax Credit) Navigate to My Account -> View Form 26AS (Tax Credit) Page 28 Individual User Registration and Services Click Confirm. The user will be redirected to the TDS- CPC website. Tax Credit Mismatch Navigate to My Account -> Tax Credit Mismatch Select Assessment Year and Click Submit. Page 29 Individual User Registration and Services User is able to see the status of tax credit mismatch. Download Pre Filled XML Navigate to My Account-> Download Pre-fill Xml Select the assessment year and click submit. User will be able to view the prefilled xml. Manage ITDREIN Users who have already registered in e-Filing portal can use this functionality to generate ITDREIN (Income Tax Department Reporting Entity Identification Number) and upload certain forms in e-Filing portal using the generated ITDREIN. Page 30 Individual User Registration and Services Steps to Generate ITDREIN Step 1: Login to e-Filing portal using User ID, e-Filing Password and DOB/DOI. Step 2:Go to My Account >Manage ITDREIN. Step 3:To generate new ITDREIN click on the button “Generate New ITDREIN”. Step 4: A Pop up with Form Type and Reporting Entity Category is displayed. Select the Form Type and Reporting Entity Category from the dropdown. Step 5: Based on the Form Type and Reporting Entity Category selected, the ITDREIN will be generated and the user will be able to upload and view the corresponding Form. Step 6:Click Generate ITDREIN button Step 7:Success Message is displayed as shown below. User receives a confirmation email on successful generation of ITDREIN to the registered Email ID. An SMS is also sent to the registered Mobile number. Page 31 Individual User Registration and Services Step 8 – On Successful Generation of ITDREIN, the screen is displayed as shown. Steps to Add Authorised Person Step 1: Login to e-Filing portal using User ID, e-Filing Password and DOB. Step 2: Go to My Account >Manage ITDREIN. Step 3: To add Authorised Person for the generated ITDREIN, click on the link provided in the ITDREIN Column. Step 4 – Click on the button Add Authorised Person. Step 5 – A Pop up with Authorised Person details appears as shown below. Step 4:Click on the button Add Authorised Person. Step 5:A Pop up with Authorised Person details appears as shown below. Page 32 Individual User Registration and Services Notes: 1. If the Form Type is FORM61B, user needs to select “Authorised Person Type” from the drop down. This field is not available for “Form15CC”. 2. The details of Authorised Person cannot be edited further. Step 6:Enter all the details and Click on Add Authorised Person button. Success Message is displayed as shown below Page 33 Individual User Registration and Services Step 7:User receives a confirmation e-mail on successful Addition of Authorised Person to the registered Email ID. An SMS is also sent to the registered Mobile number Step 8:Authorised Person receives a confirmation e-mail with an activation link to the Authorised Person’s Email ID. An SMS along with OTP (One time Password) is sent to the Authorised Person’s Mobile Number. In order to activate the account, the user should click on the Activation link, enter the Mobile PIN, Password and Confirm Password and click on Activate Button. On success, the user account is activated and the database is updated. Step 9: After the Authorised person is activated, Authorised person can view the details as below. Note – If the Form Type is FORM61B, the Additional details tab will also be displayed along with Authorised Person Details. User can also edit the Additional Details. View e- Filed Returns/Forms Navigate to My Account ->View e-Filed Returns/Forms Click on View e-Filed Return/Forms. Page 34 Individual User Registration and Services Select option. If e-filed returns/forms is selected, all e-filed returns/forms records are displayed. User will be able to see the status of returns/forms. Click on the Acknowledgment number. The Details of the acknowledgment number is displayed as a pop up. User can download PDF, ITR-V for ITRs, XMLs and Receipts. Page 35 Individual User Registration and Services If Form 15CA is selected, all Form 15CA records are displayed. User can view the form 15CA uploaded. Page 36 Individual User Registration and Services If Form 6 is selected, all Form 6 records are displayed. Click on the Receipt No. The Details are displayed as a pop up. Click on the Attachments to download the Attachments. If Rectification Status is selected, all Rectification records are displayed Select Assessment Year and Click Submit. User is able to see the status of rectification. Page 37 Individual User Registration and Services If Forms (IDS) records needs to be viewed, select Forms(Income Declaration Scheme). On submit, all IDS records will be displayed. e-Verify Return Navigate to My account ->e-Verify Return PAN is auto filled. Click on Submit. Page 38 Individual User Registration and Services Click on e-Verify link to electronically verify your return. Select one of the options. Option1 – I already have an EVC to e-Verify my return. Enter the EVC and click Submit. Success message will be appeared on the screen. Page 39 Individual User Registration and Services Option2 – I do not have an EVC and I would like to generate EVC to e-Verify my return. Click on EVC – Through Net Banking. Click on Continue. Select your Bank and Login to your NetBanking and click e-Verify Return from e-File menu to e-Verify the return. Option3 – I would like to generate Aadhaar OTP to e-Verify my return. Pre-requisite: To generate Aadhaar OTP, Taxpayer’s PAN and Aadhaar must be linked. If the Taxpayer’s PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, the below pop up is displayed. Page 40 Individual User Registration and Services Click Link Aadhaar button.You will be redirected to Link Aadhaar Page under Profile Settings. Enter the Aadhaar Number to link the Aadhaar to PAN. If the Taxpayer’s PAN and Aadhaar are linked, the below pop up is displayed Enter the Aadhaar OTP received in your Mobile Number registered with Aadhaar and click Submit. Success message will be displayed on the screen. Page 41 Individual User Registration and Services Generate EVC Navigate to My account ->Generate EVC. Select one of the options. Option1 – Generate e-Filing OTP Click Yes to generate e-Filing OTP. Page 42 Individual User Registration and Services Click No to Cancel Option2 – Generate EVC through NetBanking Click on Continue. Select your Bank and Login to your NetBanking and click generate EVC from e-File menu. EVC will be sent to your registered Mobile Number. Option 3- Generate EVC through Bank Account NumberAnd Demat Account On click of Yes, EVC gets generated. If the bank account or demat account is not pre-validated. Following message is displayed. Page 43 Individual User Registration and Services My CA/ERI Navigate to My account ->My CA/ERI Click on My CA/ERI link. Click on My Chartered Accountant. Page 44 Individual User Registration and Services To add a new CA, Click on Add. A popup is displayed. Enter details and click on submit. On successful validation, success message will be displayed. If user wants to remove CA, select the check box. On selecting the check box remove button gets enabled. On clicking Remove, CA gets removed. To access ERI functionalities, click on My e-Return Intermediary. Page 45 Individual User Registration and Services If any ERI User is active, then click on the ERI User ID to view the ERI details. Click on remove to disengage ERI. On successful validation, success message is displayed. If all ERI Users are Inactive, then Advanced Search criteria is available to view the Engage ERI. Page 46 Individual User Registration and Services Select the radio button for the corresponding ERI to be engaged and click Add button.Success message should be displayed on the screen. Service Request Navigate to My Account-> Service Request There are two options. If user needs to register a new request, select Request type as new request. Page 47 Individual User Registration and Services To raise request for intimation, Select Request for intimation. User can request the Intimation for Income Tax Return, User has to select Request for intimation and Select Return type as Income tax return, Assessment year and Category. Click Submit. User can request the Intimation for Wealth Tax Return, User has to select Request for intimation and select Return type as Wealth Tax return Page 48 Individual User Registration and Services User can request for resend of rectification order u/s 154 Click submit To raise refund reissue request, Select Refund Reissue Request. On click of submit the following screen shall be displayed to the user Page 49 Individual User Registration and Services Click submit button. After clicking submit, fill the additional details such as Bank Account number, Account Type, IFSC Code and so on -> Click ‘Submit’ For successful submission of Refund Reissue request, user must have registered DSC or EVC. Else, refer the EVC manual- Click Here or refer the DSC manual – Click Here . On Successful submission, the success message is displayed on the screen. To Change ITR form, select Change ITR form Particulars. Page 50 Individual User Registration and Services Enter Acknowledgment Number and Click Submit. User can change Bank Account Details; change Address Details, Email-ID, Mobile Number. Success message is displayed as shown If user wants to see the status of request filed, select View Request. If user wants see status of Request for intimation, select Request for intimation. Refer the below screenshot for reference. Click ‘Confirm’, if the contact details are correct. Page 55 Individual User Registration and Services After Confirming, Enter the six digit PIN -> Click Validate Refer the below screen shot. The ‘Request successfully submitted’ page will display the following details: ‘Your request to add XYZ holding AAAAA1234A as a representative has been registered with Transaction ID – 1000794315. XYZ holding AAAAA1234A can act on this request within 7 days by going to Worklist post login’ After submitting, An alert message will be sent to the Representative PAN’s e-mail ID and mobile number intimating that a request has been raised. The Representative Assessee can view the request details at e-Filing portal post login under ‘Worklist’ tab ‘For Your Action’. Add another person to represent on your behalf Perform the following steps to view the request raised under ‘Add another person to represent on your behalf’. The following details will be available: Authorised PAN Status Reason From Date To Date Attachment (POA - Only, if Representative assessee Accepts the request) Action (CANCEL/WITHDRAW) Note: CANCEL – If the Representative assessee has not acted upon the request raised, then the user can CANCEL the request. WITHDRAW – If the Representative assessee has Accepted the request, then the user can remove them by WITHDRAWING the request. Reject: The request can be rejected by providing the comments. Rectification request Navigate to e-file ->Rectification request Select assessment year, enter communication reference number and click submit Select the Rectification request type, fill in the necessary details and click submit.
