Purpose & Benefits
Muirhead® Light Vehicle Engine Protection Systems offer engine protection for your light commercial, off-road mobile
equipment. The systems monitor engine oil pressure, coolant temperature and coolant levels which will reduce
premature engine failure, damage and costly repairs. The system provides audible and visual warnings and incorporates
additional outputs for return to idle or shutdown modes. Compact in design and easy to install, the Muirhead® Light
Vehicle Engine Protection Systems come complete with sensors, harness and fittings. The systems are designed to
be installed in a variety of light vehicles.

Functionality
The Muirhead® Engine Protection System (part no. 1245) is designed to monitor three critical areas of potential engine
failure:
Engine coolant loss
Engine coolant over temperature
Low engine oil pressure
If any of these areas are violated, the system provides audible and visual warnings to alert the driver that a fault has
occurred.
MANUAL
The Engine Protection System is compact in design and easy to install.
When the ignition is switched on, the “oil pressure” LED will illuminate along with the “engine fault” LED and the audible
alarm will sound. Once the engine has started and gained sufficient oil pressure, all alarms will stop.
The unit is now monitoring the engine.
Once a fault has been detected, the ‘engine fault’ LED lamp will flash for 10 seconds, along with the LED lamp of the
particular circuit that has caused the fault and the audible alarm will sound.
The system is supplied with machine generic loom, sonar and all switches and sundry parts to assist with simple
installation to the VDJ and HZJ engines. This is done to enable a simpler installation of the system to these machines.

Variations
Light Vehicle Engine Protection System (part no. 3206) is the generic kit to suit all water cooled engines. The 3206 kit
is also supplied with a loom, sonar and all switches.
