• Acute or chronic intake of cocoa did not improve
exercise performance or recovery (Allgrove et al. 2011, Davison et al.
2012; Patel et al. 2015; Peschek et al. 2014; Stellingwerf et al. 2014; Taub et al. 2013)
• Levels of oxidative stress (F2 isoprostane, oxidized
LDL’s, MDA) were reduced by the acute or subchronic (14days) intake of CF. (Allgrove et al. 2011, Davison et al. 2012; Sign
et al. 2006; Fraga et al. 2005)
• Increase in DBP after exercise was tempered in
obese people. FMD was increased after acute and
chronic intake of Cocoa Flavanols. (Berry et al. 2010; Patel et al. 2015;
Sign et al. 2006)
• Cocoa flavanol intake increased FFA during exercise,
but had no effect on glucose, insulin, glucagon and
cortisol levels. (Allgrove et al. 2011, Davison et al. 2008; Stellingwerf et al. 2014)
