A Report on Subject Matter Expert (SME) Connect
At KLS’ Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi

The SME connect was held by KPIT Technologies Ltd., Bangalore on 19 th June’15. The event was
conducted at MCA Auditorium from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Objective of the Event:
The main objective of the event was to address final year students (E&C, E&E: both placed and nonplaced in KPIT) by experts from KPIT. It was aimed at upgrading the knowledge about Automotive Electronics
industries, current trends and also refreshing the concepts of Automotive electronics, AUTOSAR and
Infotainment systems learnt during the 8th semester.

The expert talk was by Dr. Surendran Purushothaman.
About the Event:
Prof. Abhishek Deshmukh executed the welcome ceremony which was followed by the talk by Dr.
Surendran regarding penetration of electronics in current automotive industries and how they play a vital
role. He majorly focused on ADAS (Advance Driver Assistance Systems) and elaborated when they are used
with HMI (Human Machine Interface), increase car and road safety. He also highlighted various hardware
architectures used for the design at KPIT and how they are implemented in Vehicle Management Network.
Furthermore, he covered numerous technologies of ADAS such as Vision/camera systems, Sensor
Technology, Blind spot monitor, Automatic parking, Collision detection/ control, Lane change assistance,
Active/ passive safety etc. He finally concluded with next gen ADAS technologies like Automatic driving
systems.
The event was participated by HOD E&C, faculties of E&C and students of E&C, E&E, and faculties of
E&C. and in the end Prof. Subrahmanya K N delivered vote of thanks.
