San Bernardino Community College District Board of Trustees August, 2015 Retreat Agenda • Review Board Imperatives & consider potential modifications • Review 2014-2015 Board Goals • Review Board 2015 Self-Evaluation • Review of ACCJC Recommendations • Establish 2015-2016 Goals Current Board Imperatives • Review current Board Imperatives and determine if modifications are needed: – Institutional Effectiveness – Learning Centered Institution for Student Access, Retention and Success – Resource Management for Efficiency, Effectiveness and Excellence – Enhanced and Informed Governance and Leadership Review of 14/15 Board Goals • Ensure that leadership positions currently held by interims are filled with permanent hires. • Implement a District-wide emphasis on leadership development. • Develop collaborative partnerships with other educational institutions, especially Pre-12. • Strengthen the Board’s capacity to use metrics to monitor improvement in student access and success. • Monitor student success initiatives and outcomes. • Monitor all District programs that provide workforce training and experience for students. • Continue to ensure the district’s sound fiscal condition. Reports should reflect long-term analysis. • Strengthen the effectiveness of the Board of Trustees. • Ensure new trustees are fully integrated into the Board/CEO team. BOT examines its role in development of policies and assures it acts accordingly. Also that policies are developed thru the participation process. – 2. BOT develop a strategy for addressing H.R. role and functions that require improvements. – 3. BOT assures District budget follows resource allocation model and assure transparency in budget process. • College Recommendations: – Assure compliance and timely responses to ACCJC.
