UNC-Pembroke NPHC Step Show Competition UNC-‐Pembroke Saturday, October 25, 2014 Doors open at 6:30pm Show starts at 7:00pm Tickets $5 in Advance $10 at the door Calling All Greeks, On October 25, 2014, UNC-Pembroke will be hosting a Fall Homecoming Step Show. We are currently looking for teams to participate in the show. Attached you will see the list of rules, scoring sheets, judging criteria, and application form. General information The University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s National Pan-Hellenic Council presents their annual Fall Step Show competition. There will be cash prizes for the first place winning fraternity and sorority. First place fraternity and sorority will receive $300 and second place fraternity and sorority will receive $100. *If only two fraternities are participating only a first place cash prize will be awarded. *If only two sororities are participating only a first place cash prize will be awarded.* Who Can Participate The competition is limited to only recognized members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council in good standing with their university. Only pre-registered groups are allowed to perform. Only one chapter per organization will be allowed to step, the chapters stepping will be determined on a first come basis. There are absolutely no walk-ons allowed. In order to register, the enclosed form must be completed and returned to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Rules 1. All competing groups must apply by October 17, 2014 at 5pm deadline. 2. All team members must be recognized members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. 3. Performance slots will be randomly selected by UNCP. Teams will be notified of their performance order by October 23rd. 4. Each team will have a total of 15 minutes to perform (including intro & exit). The timekeeper will start the clock when the first team member steps into full view of the judges and/or when music/vocals/video begins. 5. Any team that occupies the stage after 15 minutes will have a point deducted from the overall score for every additional minute a group is on stage. 6. All stage props must be approved by UNCP at rehearsal the day of the show. All participating teams must provide written description specifying any special equipment needs on the registration form. 7. The highest and lowest judging score will be eliminated. The highest team average wins. 8. All teams must report to scheduled practice session on time or they will forfeit their opportunity for a complete dress rehearsal and to participate in the Step Show. 9. If a team member exhibits un-sportsmanlike, disrespectful, or sexually explicit behaviors at any time during the show, the team will be disqualified. 10. No team members may wear stilettos on the stage at any time. 11. Combining of NPHC undergraduate chapters to step in the show must be approved by the UNC Pembroke NPHC. 12. Alumni may be on a team with the UNCP Director of Greek Life’s approval. a. Alumni must not have been graduated for more than 4 years in order to participate. It must be noted on the roster if they are alumni. Application Process Application process is complete once UNCP has received a completed application form by October 17, 2014 by 5pm. Judging Groups are judged by a panel of judges that represent the organizations participating in the show (one from each organization) and 2 non-affiliated judges. The non-affiliated judges will chair the panel. A scoring sheet is included for your review and preparation. All judge’s decisions are final Cash Prizes Be mindful that “cash’ means that the prize is money, not merchandise. All prizes must be processed through the university’s accounting system, so it may take up to two weeks to a month to receive payment in form of a university check to your group. In order to receive the check, please ensure that all information on the application form is completed and accurate.
