Search Tips:
If you have a security code or ticker, search by the code or ticker as opposed to name.
When searching for:
Municipal or Government Bonds – search by security code (cusip or isin)
Mutual Funds – It is best to search for mutual funds using the ticker symbol or CUSIP number or security code. If
searching by name, type in the name of the entity sponsoring the mutual funds (For example, “AIM”, “Dreyfus”,
“Fidelity”, etc.). Scroll through the items or narrow your search by adding more of the name such as, “AIM Equity”.
Evaluating Results
It is important that you understand the results of your search. You may not infer that the security is permitted if it is
not included in your result set. Listed below are the restriction indicators. Restriction indicators are determined
based on the information in the Global Independence System (GIS) as of the previous day.
Restriction Indicators Icons that illustrate whether the security is:

Proscribed/Restricted (Restricted for client-serving professionals, their spouse/spousal equivalent &
dependents)

Restricted for Covered Persons (EY client serving professionals should verify that he/she is not a Covered
Person related to the entity or its affiliates before investing in these types of securities.)

Restricted for members of the engagement team and in certain situations those in a position to influence
the engagement team.

Requires Research - submit a question to [email protected]. Provide the CUSIP/ISIN number
and security name of the security that you would like to have researched. The security will be researched to
determine whether it is permitted or restricted. You should receive a reply email in approximately 2-3 business
days.

Under independence review. Security/entity is in the process of undergoing review that may result in a
change in restriction (acquiring or losing restriction) as a result of markup addition or removal (e.g., auditor
change, business acquisitions or divestitures, change in affiliates). No action is required until the review is
complete.

Currently undergoing Public Company Independence Procedures; permitted but could become
proscribed/restricted in the future.

Permitted
