8.0 ADVANCE/RETREAT POLICY

8.0 TEAM ADVANCE/RETREAT POLICY
8.1 Purpose
Provides a process to apply for a team to change levels (tiers)
partway through a season should the original registered level not
be considered the correct level competitively
8.2 Applicability
Any Ringette Alberta registered team
8.3 Principles
8.3.1 Any team that has been seeded by the format specified in
4.4.4 of the Tiering Policy and strongly feels that it has been
incorrectly seeded, according to caliber, may request its
seeded level to be reconsidered by Ringette Alberta
8.3.2 If a team is advanced or retreated in league play re-pooling,
they will also be advanced or retreated by the Competitions
Committee to that level for the purposes of Tournaments
and Provincial Playdowns and Championships. The team
may submit its request as per this policy to remain at its
previous level.

Requirements

Any team that has been seeded by
the format specified in 4.4. of the
Tiering Policy under a given
competition level and wishes to
advance to a higher level within the
competitive structure must confirm
their higher level to the Ringette
Alberta office on or before
December 20th of the current
playing season by submitting a
Ringette Alberta Request Form
(Appendix C) to the Ringette Alberta
office

Requests to advance a team must
be received by the Ringette Alberta
office on or before December 20 of
the current playing season. A
decision by the Ringette Alberta
Competitions Committee will be

made no later than January 10th of
the current playing season

All leagues are required to submit a
report to Ringette Alberta of teams
that have been advanced for league
play by December 20th of the
current playing season.
Fees
A fee must accompany requests by a team to
advance another team as specified in Appendix
A - Rates and Fees
8.4.1.3
A team may request that Ringette Alberta
advance an opposing team to the next higher
level within its age division. This request must
be made using a fully completed Ringette
Alberta Request Form and include the following:

Approval/support by the association
of the requesting team
8.4.1.3.2
Game scores against other teams at
that level and at the higher level,
plus any other factual information to
support the request
8.4.1.3.3
A non-refundable fee in the amount
specified in Appendix A - Rates and
Fees payable to Ringette Alberta,
which must accompany the request
8.4.1.4 In extreme cases, the Competitions Committee
may take action to advance a team without an
Advance request being submitted.
8.4.2 Retreats

Retreat requests must be made
using the completed Ringette Alberta
Request Form (Appendix C) and
Team Profile Form and must be
forwarded to Ringette Alberta office
on or before December 20th of the
current playing season. A decision
will be made by Ringette Alberta

playing season

A retreat request must contain the following:

Statistical proof including years of
experience and games played
against other A and B teams using
the Team Profile Form

Written approval of its Home
Association
Retreated teams will be automatically
reassessed by the Ringette Alberta
Competitions Committee, if after retreating
they add another player to their team
registration
8.4.3 Compliance and Consequences
The decision of Ringette Alberta Competitions Committee is
final
