PROFILE
Dr. Maqsood Anwar Rustamani has been working as a Professor in the Department of
Entomology and Dean Faculty of Crop Protection, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam. He
has wide experience in the field of teaching and research. He earned M.Sc. (Agriculture) Hons.
Entomology from Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam in 1980. Latter he was appointed as a
lecturer in the same department in 1981. He got PhD scholarship from Ministry of Science &
Culture (MONBUSHO), Japan in 1988 and he received PhD degree in Entomology with
specialization in host plant resistance to insects from Okayama University, Japan in 1992. Due to
his outstanding research work in the field of biological sciences he was honored with Ryobiteien
International Award, presented by Ryobiteien Foundation, Japan during his PhD program in
1991. He also received Post-doctoral studies from Research Institute for Bioresources, Okayama
University, Japan in 2003.
Dr. Rustamani has been teaching the students of Entomology from the last 33 years and has
supervised more than 76 students in M.Sc program. He has also produced 03 PhD students and
currently
acting as major supervisor of 04 PhD students and co-supervisor of 08 students
working in Entomology, Plant Protection and Plant Pathology departments. Dr. Rustamani has
published 88 research papers in various journals of international repute and presented papers in
more than 20 national and international conferences and seminars. He has worked as Principal
Investigator of two research projects funded by PSF and HEC, Islamabad and continues to pursue
in teaching and research activities. He is approved PhD supervisor in entomology by the Higher
Education Commission, Islamabad.
Dr. Rustamani also has a vast experience of administration. He is working as a Dean, Faculty of
Crop Protection, remained Incharge Dean, faculty of Agricultural Social sciences, Chairmen of
various Departments such as Plant Pathology, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Rural
Sociology and Pakistan Studies and Islamic Culture. He also serves as member on various
Statutory Bodies of the University including Syndicate, Senate, Academic Council, Finance &
Planning, Selection Board and Board of Advanced Studies & Research. In addition, he is acting
as Chairman of various committees such as Sports Management Committee, Transport
Management Committee, Discipline Committee, Unfair Means Committee constituted by the
competent authority and member for PhD review committee for Punjab, NPK, Balochistan, AJK
and Islamabad regions appointed by the HEC.
