John was a foundation member of
the Committee of Management.
During his 12 years, he served two
terms as Secretary, three as Vice
President, one as Treasurer and was
the President in 1985–1986. John
was the Deputy Secretary of the
Shire of Bulla, Deputy Secretary for
the Sunbury Waterworks Trust and
Sewerage Authority and was
involved in many other committees
associated with his work. His fair
minded approach to good
governance and a high level of
integrity greatly influenced the
governing process and efficient
1981
decision making of the Committee.
His good humour and commitment
to the community of Sunbury as
well as his role in negotiating and
acquiring funds for the first
permanent building for Sunbury
Community Health provided a solid
foundation for the future of the
organisation.
John was awarded Life
Governorship by the then Minister
for Health, The Hon. William (Bill)
Borthwick, in 1981 at the opening of
the permanent building in Gap Road,
Sunbury.
