Saint Aloysius’ Minor Seminary Kitiwum is dedicated to the formation of
future diocesan Priests. In SAMS, as Saint Aloysius’ Minor Seminary is
fondly called, we discern and nurture the seed of priestly vocation in the
hearts of the boys who feel called to serve God as diocesan Priests. Many
boys come to SAMS at a very tender age. Some of them may express
explicitly their intention to study for the diocesan Priesthood, but may still
have vague and crude ideas about the diocesan Priesthood. Nevertheless, no
matter how implicit, vague, or crude their intentions may be it is an
indication that there is something in them that needs to be discerned,
refined and nurtured to maturity.
1
SAMS Kitiwum was created in September 1993 as a second classical minor
seminary to serve the needs of the Ecclesiastical Province of Bamenda.
Aware of the fact that children can and often receive God’s call at the
youthful, tender and delicate stage of their lives, we call on parents to
guide, encourage and support their children to answer God’s call. Should your
son express the noble intention to study for the diocesan Priesthood,
welcome the child’s inner feeling, take up your responsibility and make the
necessary sacrifices that will enable the child to study in SAMS Kitiwum.
The objectives of SAMS Kitiwum are as follows:
1. To help every young seminarian to love and cherish the diocesan
Priesthood.
2. To help the young seminarian to cultivate and maintain moral discipline
as laid down and taught by the Church.
3. To generate and foster in the young seminarian a spirit of prayer.
4. To instil in the young seminarian a spirit of truth, honesty, transparency
and accountability.
5. To cultivate in the young seminarian a spirit of honest academic
endeavour and hard work.
6. To ensure effective discipline in the young seminarian in order that he
may achieve moral and academic excellence.
7. To prepare the young seminarian for the major seminary with a solid
academic, moral, spiritual and social background.
