CVCS Administrative Report
Governing Council
May 3, 2017
Enrollment: 168 (120th day has passed so no new students were added)
14 students were selected for Kindergarten Lottery on April 28
6 siblings were added as siblings
20 kindergarteners for 2017!
2nd Semester Attendance: 95%
PARCC Assessment
We will have 100% of our students tested in PARCC by the end of the week! It was difficult to
find available staff to cover students with accommodations. There were 11 assessment locations
across the campus with 14 staff members (one substitute teacher) acting as proctors and Test
Administrators.
EOCs
May 9-12, we will administer the End of Course Assessments. This is the first time EOCs have
been required. EOCs are created by NM teachers and count as classroom finals and tie the data
to teachers, who are not otherwise connected to any assessment, for evaluation purposes.
Science, Social Studies, Art and PE, along with Health and Alg 1assessments will be given to
Middle School students. Art and PE will be assessed for 5th grade students only.
DISCOVERY
This assessment will be taken by students grades 3-8 in Reading and Math May 15-23.
Discovery is the one standardized assessment teachers chose several year ago as a short cycle
assessment to help drive instruction. Since this assessment has been part of our Performance
Goals in our charter, we will need to address this over the summer and have a plan for next year.
RFA’s
The Bilingual Application (BMEP) has been submitted for funding our English Language
Learners (ELLs) and K-5 students in the Heritage Program, so students can continue learning
Spanish daily.
The Reads to Lead application was submitted to the state on April 26th. No signatures from the
board were required. We submitted a request for funding a half time reading teacher. The
teacher would run a one-on-one tutoring program, provide reading interventions, and help
progress monitor as we did during FY 2013-2016.
Our K-6 Fine Arts (FAEA) application is due at the end of May. Linnea Burleigh, Denise
Gilson, Beth Crowder and myself will compile this together over the next few weeks.
There is a Hard to Staff Stipend application underway to help us retain those positions. We
have completed much of this application that is due May 12th. No GC signatures are required.
Teacher Evaluations
I will complete and submit these by the end of the month! Only two observations remain for
Domains 2 (Creating and Environment for Learning) and Domain 3 (Teaching for Learning).
Domain 1 (Planning and Preparation) and Domain 4 (Professionalism) will be completed for
teachers through artifacts they have provided for me or uploaded into the Oasys Platform for
Teacher Evaluations.
PED Changes
There are some changes to the state Bilingual programs that may impact us over time. A
meeting to review the proposed changes is scheduled for May 2nd in Sata Fe.
Bond Money
We are waiting to hear from Socorro Consolidated Schools how CVCS will benefit from the
recently passed bond.
