2. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To support the Clinical Service Lead in the delivery of a safe and effective home oxygen
service.
To be the key contact in a Homecare O2 Service region at all levels with Clinical
Commissioning Groups, British Lung Foundation and all Health Care Professionals
within the CCG/NHS.
To provide specialist advice externally to respiratory patients, their carers and healthcare
professionals, and internally to Air Liquide (Homecare) Ltd personnel.

4. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS



Registered Healthcare Professional with minimum of 3 years post registration experience
Evidence of up to date knowledge base of professional and specialist issues
Specialist post registration qualification (in respiratory care)
DESIRABLE



Evidence of continued professional development
Experience of working with adults and paediatrics
Experience of managing palliative/end of life care

5. RESPONSIBILITIES
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES









Responsible for individual and company health and safety requirements in accordance
with company policies
To be the key contact in a Homecare O2 Service region with Clinical Commissioning
Groups, British Lung Foundation and all Health Care Professionals within the CCG/NHS.
To provide specialist support advice to HCPs their patients and carers
To be the key contact for all regional HOS-AR Services, Paediatric teams and other
specialist teams who prescribe O2
To organise and facilitate, on a regular basis, patient forums across the region and to
discuss with patients and carers their views regarding the Oxygen Service
To represent Air Liquide at regional meetings/exhibitions
To liaise with the Regional Operations Manager regarding issues within the region
To liaise as required with Air Liquide’s HOOF Manager and Customer Call Centre
To assist in other regions as necessary
TRAINING AND EDUCATION







Give advice to prescribers and related authorities about Air Liquide’s optimal mode of
supply/equipment we have selected for each category
To set up on going training of Oxygen Services - equipment required and how the
equipment works
To work closely with the Regional Ops Manager to ensure education needs are met for
our field engineers
To work as a team with other regional Respiratory Advisers and Clinical Service Lead to
help develop required educational literature for our patients and customers
To support the HOOF Services Manager by providing strong clinical guidance
To actively engage with and develop strong clinical relationships using networking
opportunities to raise technical awareness and improve HCP confidence in prescribing
To maintain professional registration and demonstrate continued professional
development
CLINICAL & TECHNICAL SUPPORT


Identify and review any exceptional need / special case requirements with the Clinical
Services Lead
To provide internal and external guidance to specify the safest, most effective and
efficient solution for patients and their carers
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT


Engage with HCPs within CCG / NHS, Strategic Review Group meetings and use
Clinical Cluster meetings to encourage open dialogue amongst clinicians, patients and
their carers to add value and drive patient satisfaction
Support participation in targeted, patient focused, campaign activities identified by CCGs
(to include health promotion, smoking cessation etc)

PLANNING & REPORTING



To submit a weekly report to the Clinical Service Lead outlining field based calls within
the week
Create and maintain an up-to-date data base of clinical contacts within each CCG
Monitor and report any changes and developments to the HOS-AR/Paediatric services
PATIENT VISITS


Attend patient visits to support HCPs, patients and carers where requested, to help resolve
any issues that may arise with equipment, training or service
Make clear and accurate patient records of all activity
CLINICAL SUPPORT

Assess, review and manage patients as required as part of none HOS services

Support Prescribing Clinicians in Home Oxygen Service Assessment and Review Services
Respiratory Nurses, Physiotherapists, Physiologists etc

Support Paediatric Teams across our regions

Educate and support on all equipment available under HOS Contract
Educate and support on Home Oxygen Order Form - Prescribing O2
Liaise with clinical teams regarding complicated patient issues

Patient Visits with NHS
 Support clinicians with complicated O2 requirements


Maintain a strong relationship with BLF
Attend regular Breathe Easy meetings – support and advice
