Guidelines:
1. Read children’s literature appropriate to grade.
 Kindergarten: picture books
 Grades 1/2/3: may choose either picture or chapter
books


Grade 4: either chapter books or novel
Grade 5: novels
2. Earn points while you read!
 Each picture book is worth 1 point.
 Chapter books are worth 5 points apiece.
 Longer novels are worth 10 points each.
Students who earn 50 points will be eligible for the following
rewards:
1. Earn a Reader Prize Pack
2. Get your picture taken for the Reader’s Hall of Fame.
3. Visit the Book Talk Café where you can enjoy a snack
café-style and talk with your friends about what you
read over the summer.
4. Receive a special mystery book!

The worst thing about keeping a summer reading log is remembering
to write it down! Wouldn’t it be easier to snap a pic of you and the
book you just completed and post it somewhere?
Enter digital reading logs!
Below are the instructions on how to get on the Padlet site. You can
access Padlet on the web or download the free app from the app
store.
1. Access the website using the QR code below or type in:
https://sites.google.com/vbschools.com/nlesreading/home
2. Click on “Book Logs” on the right had corner of
the page.
3. Click on your 2016-2017 teacher’s name.
4. Start posting pictures of you and the books you
finish reading and a mini review of the book.

the bottom right of the page.)
