HEI DEDICATION – “One Team, One Heart, One Mission!” What is HEI Dedication? In Chinese lunar calendar, the 7th month (aka The Ghost Month) is superstitiously a bad time to make important decision in business. Movement of office or home or machinery is a big taboo. Now imagine the following scenario; Our customer is in dire-strait for a new press to fulfil their huge backlog, specifically requested to avoid the 7th month, our factory booked a vessel on the longest possible-route with the most stoppages, unprofessional logistic company which did not inform us on delay and sudden-change of route, the CD102-5+LX finally arrived at a port 500km south of intended KL port and we were 2 days from the 7th month and 1 day from road closure for commercial trucks as we’re approaching the massive population movement 5 days from the largest Muslim celebration after a-month-long of fasting. Customer is calling to check the arrival time supposedly planned for the day itself. “All hell breaks loose”, one can imagine. Instead of waiting for the ship which will pass the deadline, a decision was made to get the press offloaded in Singapore to be sent to KL by land. Knowing us in desperate situation, our corporate transporter presented a cut-throat quote. Our order management team took over the lead to source for an alternative transporter. Whatever can go wrong went wrong on that day, from missing document for custom clearance to tyre puncture; it’s like watching the popular reality show, “Amazing Race”. From then onwards, interdepartmental communications took place on an hourly basis to track the trucks. From an earlier ETA to our customer’s factory at 4:00pm, the final truck arrived at 2:00am, managed to narrowly escape the curfew for trucks on the highways. Offloading a CD102-5+LX at 2:00am. Customer waiting anxiously on-site was so impressed with the present of personnel from technical, sales as well as our order management manager to keep the customer updated on the status. It is in the customer’s words, “I’m impressed with the teamwork and dedication of Heidelberg staffs especially your order management manager whom I initially misunderstood was from the transport company, assuring and updating me on the trucks where-about. Well done, Heidelberg!” CD102 finally put in place. From left; Kok Wei Heong (2S), Justin Tye (Sales), Steven Chan (2S) and Sew Kok Ping (OM). It is such dedication that earned us the confidence from our customers and set us on a different standard from our competitors that they ordered another CD102-5+LX from us three months later. To the team, thank you and keep it up. “HEI Dedication” indeed.
