ARK Swift Primary Academy Australia Road, London W12 7TP NEWSLETTER 6 Year 6 at their Junior Citizen Training Message from Mr O’Grady Dear Parents/Carers, October 3rd 2014 Year 6 spent time learning about how to keep safe period from 8.40 a.m. until 8.55 a.m. each weekday morning; 3:05 until 3:30 every weekday evening. I hope this has made life a little easier for those of you who use it. I am aware that we have had a busy and productive start to the new school year with lots of change and developments. I thought it might be helpful to summarise many of these changes in this week’s newsletter. After School Clubs: We now have a range of extracurricular and Homework clubs every night after school for all year groups from Year 1 upwards. I hope you have signed your child up for any clubs that he/she would like to attend. If you are uncertain about any issues related to clubs, please ask your class teacher or speak to a member of SLT. Positive Playtime: We have had some great feedback on our new approach to the lunchtime Positive Playtime initiative. Our Peer Mentors are working effectively and it is a delight to see the children really joining in and enjoying the play. Next week on Monday 6th October and Friday 10th October we are inviting parents to take a guided tour of the of the playground between 12 midday and 12.45pm to see the Positive Lunchtime in action. Further workshops are planned and I hope to see as many of you as possible at these sessions. The session next week, linked to phonics, will be Reading and will take place on Wednesday 8th October. Parent Representative Group: I have had a number of forms back from parents who would like to be the Parent Representative for their child’s class but we still have some gaps and would love to hear from you if you are interested in this role. Please complete the form attached to the letter that I sent out on this and return to me by Monday 6th October. If you need a duplicate form please ask at reception Parent Fundraising Group: Just a reminder that the first meeting of this group will take place on Tuesday 7th October at 9.05 am. Michael O `Grady Stars of the Week ARK Swift`s value of the week is hard work. The stars of the week this week are the pupils and staff from Y4 Exeter and Y4 Southampton classes who were very focused when their visit plans were disrupted. The childen went on a trip on Wednesday 1st Oct. to the Thames Barrier.Sadly, the Central Line was closed, so at the last moment Mr Beynon and Mr White rather than let the children miss out on the tripimmediately set to work organising a new route by bus. The children took the change in their stride and showed excellent behaviour throughout the day. Well Done! _______________________________ Parent Questionnaires We welcome your views about the work of the academy. Thank you to everyone who has filled in and returned the Parent Questionnaire. There is still time to return your questionnaire. If you need a replacement form please call in at the new Reception area and we will be glad to provide a new form. Happy Eid This weekend many pupils and their families will be celebrating Eid. The religious festival of Eid takes place over the weekend of 3rd to 6th October. We wish all our families celebrating a Happy Eid. Very kindly, some of our families are helping organise an Eid party and this will take place next Friday, October 10th in the afternoon.
