GENERAL INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS • Attend and participate actively in Board meetings, held at least 4 times per year. • Ensure that all Bylaws and policies are practiced in all operations. • Offer feedback, bring ideas regarding direction of the Club, and advocate proper management in accordance with the Bylaws, Policies & Procedures, and applicable law during Board meetings. • Attend monthly Club dances, special events, and the Annual General Membership meeting. • Provide leadership that advances the Club’s purpose, philosophy, and vision. • Direct the current operations while keeping the long-term success of the Club in mind. • Establish and adhere to an annual, zero-balanced budget. Actively participate in quarterly financial reviews. • Foster an atmosphere of dynamic, friendly volunteerism. • Recruit volunteers outside the Board to manage and run operational functions and Club activities/events per the Bylaws and Policies & Procedures. • Listen to and respect all viewpoints and support the will of the majority. • Prepare for meetings, as necessary. • Perform special projects, as necessary. • Perform specific duties for position (see individual Job Descriptions). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Current member in good standing of The Next Generation Swing Dance Club. • Able to make the time commitment. • Able to fulfill the responsibilities required for position. • Passionate about promoting Swing Dancing and the purposes of the Club. JOB DESCRIPTION - PRESIDENT RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee all business operations and ensure compliance with Bylaws, Policies & Procedures, and applicable law. • Enter into business agreements on behalf of the Club in compliance with Bylaws, Policies & Procedures, and applicable law. • Establish agenda and lead meetings of the Board and Executive Committee. • Work with Club accountant/bookkeeper and Treasurer to prepare annual budget. • Work with Treasurer and accountant/bookkeeper to oversee quarterly financial reviews and mange any needed program adjustments to meet budgeted bottom-line. • Serve as the primary representative of the Club to other dance organizations. • Remain informed of local, regional, and national swing dance activities. • Conduct Club business between meetings and report relevant activity back to the Board. • Foster volunteerism to facilitate filling any open positions. • Ensures that announcements are made at Club Dances about Club activities & other dance events. • Be a signatory on the Club’s bank account(s).
