Primary Achievement Strategy
Promoting better outcomes for primary aged children across Sheffield
Focus in 2016-17
• Locality Assessment Leads have supported Y2 and Y6 teachers to ensure that best practice has
has been shared.
• Children at KS1 & KS2 are better prepared for statutory assessment because of the sharing of
of ideas.
• Moderation within localities has been tighter than ever before.
• Forums for the wider sharing of statutory assessment information and the discussion of
misconceptions.
Some ideas for 2017-18
• Work of the Locality Assessment Leads to be a central part of locality action planning.
• Earlier collection of predictions to better support schools.
• Improved moderation activities including the building of portfolios and a focus on Y2 / Y3
transition.
• Increasing involvement of headteachers.
