• Each tribe’s crops are attacked by
locusts. One patriarch from each
tribe loses all of his harvest. The
other 2 patriarchs are willing to
share…for a price.
• One patriarch must send 1 of his
children to work for the other
patriarchs in the tribe.
• There is a rumor that
neighboring tribes are at war.
The tribes decide to form an
alliance.
• Each tribal leader must send 1
child to each of the other 2 tribes
to seal the alliance.
• A patriarch from the yellow tribe
accidently shot and killed a wife
from the green tribe while he was
hunting. Peace is of the utmost
importance.
• The yellow patriarch must send 1 of
his wives and her child as payment
to the green wife’s husband.
• The yellow and green tribes are
now at war with the blue tribe.
They have captured some of the
members.
• Blue prisoners of war (soldiers)
are to be divided amongst the
two tribes.
• The green tribe loses most of its
seed to plant the fields this year
due to rot. They do not have any
money to pay the blue tribe for
some seed.
• The green tribe should send two of
its prisoners of war to the blue
tribe as payment.
• There is a famine across the entire
region. All tribes are desperate; it
is time to petition the gods.
• All the tribes sacrifice all of their
remaining prisoners of war to the
gods.
If there aren’t any POWs, the tribal
leader decides whether to sacrifice
all the soldiers or all the children.
Debrief:
1. Think about your role. What are
some of the emotions you felt?
2. Explain how tribes “settle things”
(both good and bad).
3. How does Fate play a role in the
lives of tribal people?
