Kodiak Makes First Bush Landing in Amdu
Bart and Emily
Allen
Remember that Kodiak we wrote about in our last post? It made its first trip into Amdu! And that trip involved a little
history-making as Amdu received the distinction of being the first grass airstrip in PNG on which the new Kodiak
landed.
Approaching planes always create a bit of a stir in the village. Everyone wants to know who or what the plane is
carrying. We had told our Amdu friends that a new plane was coming so excitement on this day was even higher. As
usual, once the plane landed and the pilots shut off the engines, everyone crowded around to see the shiny, new
plane. It was an exciting day!
Please pray for our pilots as they learn the ins and outs of flying a new plane. It’s quite a bit different than the little
Cessna 206 that NTM has been using here in PNG for about 20 years.
Micah (our youngest son) is especially excited to get to fly on the Kodiak. Every time a plane lands, he asks if he can
get on it. Lord willing, we won’t have to leave the tribe until our annual conference in a few months, but it will be a fun
day when we get to take our first flight on the new plane.
