Board Notes Bullard Independent School District Highlights from Board Meetings Regular Meeting- April 18, 2016 6 p.m. The Board Notes are not the official minutes of the Board Meeting. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 6:04pm Special Recognition: Bullard Primary School students presented a demonstration of DrumFit, the grant issued by the Bullard Education Foundation, which incorporates exercise and fun. The students chosen to “perform” were all “bucketfillers” and acknowledged for their positive attitudes. Jennifer Acker was recognized for her innovation in the classroom; she is the only paraprofessional to have applied for a BEF grant. Open Forum: Donny Lee, a professional from Frankston ISD, took time to acknowledge the importance of mentorship in the lives of our youth. He proceeded to commend Tony Johnson for his sacrifice and dedication to mentor LA Bradford, a student at FHS. Mr. Johnson was then named Frankston ISD 2016 Mentor of the Year. LA Bradford presented him with a plaque in his honor. Reports: Construction/Bond Update- Presented by WRL Project Manager Financial Report- Presented by Todd Schneider Curriculum Report Accountability/STAAR Score Conversion Board President’s Report No Report Presented Superintendent Report Legislative Update- 2 Run-offs which impact public education: Senate District 1 between Simpson and Hughes and the State Board of Education between Bruner and Ellis. May 16, 2016 Regular Board Meeting will be held at the Intermediate School Cafetorium Update on High School STEM Project: there is an opportunity for the winning team to attend a celebration conference in Washington DC in June. The cost to the District would be approximately $3500 and will be discussed during the May board meeting.
