have decided that it is time to embark on a two week tour of the United Kingdom (U.K.).The band consists of four members, 2 male and 2 female. In the band there is a drummer, a rhythm guitarist, a lead guitarist and bass guitarist. You have received an Arts Council Grant of $20,000 to fund the tour which must cover all expenses. You must commit the band to playing a minimum of 6 gigs while on tour. You decide to commence the tour at the start of the September school holidays, ie 22 September to 7 October 2012. Your task: 1. Develop a detailed itinerary for the band’s tour including dates, activities, modes of transport, accommodation, and most importantly the gigs you have booked. The band will be accompanied by you as Manager at all times. You are free to play in any part or parts of the UK, but you may prefer to locate in one major centre such as London or Glasgow to save on transport costs. 2. Create a detailed budget for the tour which corresponds directly to the itinerary in Section 1. This section must show evidence of research of your costing of each item in your itinerary and justification of your decisions. This section must contain conversions of Australian Dollars into British Pounds and viceversa and keep within your budget of $20,000. Your budget must include the following items: Passports for the 5 people on tour Visas if necessary All airfares, transfer costs (taxis or hire-cars to and from airports), and transport costs while on tour Meals – a daily allowance for 5 people Equipment Hire (Drum kit, 3 amplifiers) Accommodation – budget style for a group Promotion before and during tour, merch, cds etc Important Information: As band manager you have made an executive decision to only take what is absolutely necessary on the International Flights ie guitars, leads, effects pedals, drum sticks and personal belongings. This is to save money in excess baggage costs and the hassle of lugging heavy equipment from place to place. You will hire the necessary equipment such as drum kit and amplifiers and need to factor this into your budget. Band members are also required to have some of their own personal spending money for this tour for activities and items not listed in the itinerary and budget. It is essential that the total cost of the tour keeps within the budget limit of $20,000 and time frame of two weeks. It is entirely over to you as to what music genre Itchy Feet are, and this may affect the types of venues you book and the merch you sell while on tour. Remember to keep at track of all websites visited such as travel agents and place any email correspondence with UK venues in an appendix. The structure of your report should be: Introduction – describe the band and the reasons for the UK tour Itinerary – in tabular form Budget – in tabular form Conclusion – explanations and justification for the decisions made to keep the tour within the budget.
