 Continue to learn new sounds, alternative ways
of spelling sounds for reading and writing.

 10 minutes daily reading homework.
ITALIAN: Children will be learning basic vocabulary
and phrases through games and songs. They will alternate
Italian and Forest School for half a term each.















MATHEMATICS
Read and write numbers up to and beyond 100.
Adding by counting on from largest number.
Partitioning numbers into tens and ones / units.
Counting on and back in 10s from any number.
Subtracting by counting back.
Knowing by heart addition and subtraction facts
for pairs of numbers to up to10.
Adding and subtracting multiples of 10 to 2-digit
numbers.
Count in 2s, 5s, 10s, on and back.
Count by grouping and begin to learn and
understand times tables.
Recognise odd and even numbers.
Solving problems involving doubling, halving,

UNDERSTANDING THE ARTS
MUSIC:
 Develop singing voices.
 Explore music that represents the environment
(including the weather).
 Play instruments to create music representing the
environment.
 Listen to a range of music.
ART and DT:
 Learn about Matisse’s collages.
 Create their own collages using ideas from plants
and their environment.
 Design and create homes or special places as
dens.
DANCE: The children will be learning a dance to perform
at our May Day celebrations.

HEALTH & WELLBEING:

Our whole school themes are Relationships and Changes.

They will continue to develop learning skills through
Grow Your Brain sessions after half term.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
On Monday afternoons Mr Smith (a sports coach from
Ignite Sports) will be working with the class. They will be
focusing on developing orienteering skills, making use of
our wonderful outside environment and improving their
teamwork. In term 5 an athletics coach will work with us,
helping us develop skills for Sports Day.
SCIENTIFIC & TECHNOLOGICAL
UNDERSTANDING
SCIENCE:
 Growing plants and our local environment
Children will be following in Darwin’s footsteps
by looking closely at the plants around school
and local environment. They will grow seeds,
observe changes and care for plants around the
school.
Pushes and Pulls
Children will be learning about forces, describing
movement and exploring how forces make things
go faster, change direction, slow down or stop.
 Plan and carry out investigations
 Forest School
Children will continue to learn about the natural
environment and changes in the seasons through
their time in Forest School with Mrs Mundy.
They will have opportunities to use their learning
across the curriculum as they investigate our
school environment.
COMPUTING:
 Continue to develop keyboard skills.
 Use ICT to find information about the local
environment (plants, pond life).
 Use a program to create musical phrases linked
to storytelling and the environment.
 Use programs to present their work in other
subject areas.
