Student Government Association Minutes October 25, 2016 Call to Order A Moment of Silence Roll Call Approval of Last Meeting’s Minutes – Moved by Senator Golsby and seconded by Senator Courville. Guest Speakers- Pi Sigma Epsilon: The presenter was Trey Jones, and he talked about how there is a video on marketing that really get a good message across. The organization wants to show the video for many to come out and see it, and they need the scholarship to help pay for food and other things to supply to people coming watch it. Department Headso Joey- R&J: CAB Elections on 9th and 10th. Senator Walker said that they still have to watch elections and that his committee will not meet until next week. o Kendrick - Student & Academic: Let’s Talk Warhawks October 26th 11-1. Senator Jones reminded everyone that Let’s Talk Warhawks is tomorrow, October 26th from 11-1. He has sign-up sheets for it. He reminded that people in the first shift are responsible for taking it there, and the last shift is responsible for taking it back to the SGA office. Working the shifts counts as an office hour as well. He also suggested everyone wear something ULM related if you do not have your SGA polo yet. Senator Jones also said that we will be doing the 3 chart system on the board. o J’lyn- Campus Projects: Halloween Ball: Sign-up sheets, lights. Senator Henderson reminded everyone that we need more people to sign up for the shifts for Halloween Ball. She also told everyone that the lights are also taken care of. o Ashley- Promotions: Keep promoting Halloween Ball. Boo-Pops. Senator Hunter told everyone great job on posting about Halloween Ball and to keep sharing and promoting it. She also said that you can invite one non ULM guest if they have their ID. Boo Pops need to be passed out as well the next few days. She also said that Election Day is November 8th and early voting ends November 1st. We will be promoting that as well to encourage people to vote. She also said she wants to get stickers made to promote elections around the country. Senator Hunter also suggested we get buttons made to get people to talk about problems they want to address to SGA. Treasurer’s Reporto Budget- The budget is aside from polos, Hawkeye ads, Halloween decorations, two tent rentals, and candy, the budget is $135,423.66. o RSO Scholarships- 3 left (voting on 2 tonight) Secretary’s Reporto Office Hours (Wednesday-Tuesday) o Halloween Ball Shifts o Non-ULM Invites- Only one guest per ULM students that is a non-ULM student. They must have their ID and sign in when they get to the Halloween Ball if a non-ULM student. Vice President’s Reporto Miss ULM- Tickets are out, and Vice President Belaire said to get your tickets because they will probably sell out soon. The tickets are $5 for students and $10 for non-students. President’s Reporto Boo Pops- President Neal said that you can wear a costume while passing out Boo Pops to get everyone to get people excited about Halloween Ball. o SGA Ideas- President Neal said that if there are ideas regarding money especially, make sure to pass it by Laura before presenting it to committee heads or anything. Advisors Report o Halloween Ball- Advisor Jennings said that everyone should do their shifts and to please help out extra if you can to make it successful. o National Election- Advisor Jennings said that besides national election, make sure to vote for state polls that will be coming up to help out because some of those regard higher education which impacts college students greatly too. There are also Senate elections besides the amendments and presidential election. Amendment 2 is also regards a great deal on higher education. The absentee ballots are due November 4th, and you can find those online. Old Businesso Vote on Kappa Epsilon- The motion was moved by Senator Nash and seconded by Senator Mays to amend the scholarship from $500 to $250. The motion was passed Y-25, N-5, A-0. o Vote on Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Senator Golsby moved to table the motion to next week and seconded by Senator Taylor. o Update on Trunk or Treat- Senator Waldrop said that she would like people to help work Trunk or Treat with her for SGA. You must stay the whole time at Trunk or Treat to prevent maybe hurting kids. Senator Maxwell and Senator Hunter volunteered to help with Trunk or Treat for SGA. New Businesso Greek Unity Step show- October 31st at 6:00 PM at Brown Gym o Browse on the Bayou November 5th- Need about 4 people at 10 to setup and need to be done at 10:30. Everyone should be done at 12 PM. Senator Maxwell, McGuffee, Prestenbach, and Hunter volunteered to help and work it. General Discussiono President Neal suggested we help promote the game on November 5th. Advisor Jennings said they will be giving out door prizes at each quarter at the game including Beats, MacBook Air, and $1500 towards tuition next semester. o Senator Walker asked if there will be emergency legislation for TOPS, and Advisor Jennings said that will be checked on. Advisor Jennings said that there are three dates between now and December 10th to do something on campus regarding TOPS. o Senator Nash wondered how we would assist with a debate on campus, and we will help with any assistance they need. o Senator Jones suggested we have a Tacky Sweater Christmas Party.
