FIA World RX Teams’ Champion; 2nd, FIA World RX Drivers’ standings (with Timmy Hansen)

Introduction
“We won the Teams’ title in 2015 and were runners-up
in 2016, so the aim is to take things a step further this
time by targeting both the Teams’ and Drivers’ crowns. To
achieve that, we know we can count on the services of two
battle-hardened drivers since Sébastien Loeb, who will
once again be teaming up with Timmy Hansen, now has
a complete season’s experience under his belt. That said,
we know very well that the level of the World Rallycross
Championship is improving all the time. We are pleased to
see that Audi and Volkswagen have joined Ford and Peugeot
by backing strong teams. It’s going to be a quality season.
2nd, FIA World RX Teams’ standings
2 victories, 10 podiums
The objectives are clear:
To conclude the campaign with the PEUGEOT 208 WRX on
top of the world in both the Drivers’ and Teams’ standings.
We are continuing our association with Hansen Motorsport as Team Peugeot
Hansen. Peugeot Sport is responsible for the cars’ development, while Hansen
Motorsport will run them in the championship. We have strengthened our
technical squad although our approach will continue to be reasonable and costconscious. Although our factory programme will still focus on cross-country
rallying, we are convinced that rallycross has a bright future ahead of it, so long
as the media coverage continues to remain competitive for the costs involved.”
Bruno Famin, Director, Peugeot Sport

The circuit
Rallycross races are held on mixed-surface tracks, made up of 60 percent
gravel and 40 percent asphalt. They measure on average one kilometre
in length, with jumps occasionally adding to the challenge.
Joker Laps
All drivers must pass through this additional, slower section of track once
per race. The key is in choosing the best moment to do so, which is where
strategy adds an extra element of intrigue and spice to what is already a
supremely spectacular sport.

Spotters
The teams’ spotters serve a similar role for a rallycross driver as the codriver does for a rally driver – the major difference being that rather than
sitting alongside the driver in the car, they can be found in the spotters’
tower at the side of the track. From their privileged position close to the
display screens, each spotter is able to evaluate the various strategic
options and advise their driver accordingly.
