Teaching/Learning
Methodology
Students are required to complete at least 126 hours of field practice,
subject to the arrangement between the College and field practice partners.
Field Practice
Students are required to participate in a supervised practicum in a clinical
setting. During the practicum, students are guided and occasionally
instructed by supervisors in the clinical conference to critically appraise
the clinical situations and attain a deeper understanding of their learning
experience, with a focus on integrating the theoretical input and clinical
practice.
Record of Field Practice
Provides information for field practice including the student guide, log
sheets to record the skills learned or practiced and a structured observation
guide to achieve desirable learning outcomes.
Self-Reflective Journal
Through writing of the self-reflective journals, students’ learning will be
consolidated by reflecting on their own strengths and limitations with the
focus on seeking ways of improvement. Such reflective strategy also
renders students to create meaning out of their experiences with the
evolvement of their own philosophy of nursing.
Briefing and debriefing sessions
Enhance students with better preparation, directed learning, feedback on
performance and experience sharing among the peers.

words on their appreciation of clinical practicum.
Learning Progress Report
Students are required to make a record of what they have learned or
observed on a weekly basis throughout the field practice for assessment of
their learning progress.
Field practice credits will not be counted in the GPA calculation, but the
accumulated clinical hours will be used for articulation to senior year /
direction admission scheme of nursing programmes in specific
universities.
*Continuous assessment items and/or weighting may be adjusted by the subject
team subject to the approval of the College Programme Committee.
To pass this subject, students are required to obtain a pass in the
