Tree Talk and Tree Walk To Celebrate the 60 th Anniversary of New Asia College

To give the Class of 1979 a guided tour of the campus flora on New Asia campus
To strengthen the sense of belonging of the alumni of CUHK
To introduce to our alumni the CU Tree Project and New Asia Tree Map online
To raise awareness of campus trees and nature education with the corporate support of
Hang Seng - Green Bank
Programme:
A Tree Talk and A Tree Walk for Photo-taking of Alumni and Families
Tree Talk:
A short introduction to the CU Tree Project with an interactive map of the
campus flora of New Asia College including a willow tree planted by
Mr. Qian Mu, a planting bed designed by EMO, and Shiuying Bamboo (秀英竹)
named after a distinguished overseas Chinese, Dr. S. Y. Hu (胡秀英博士).
Hands-on experience:
Participants of the tree talk are welcome to lay their hands on specimens of
plants, leaves, fruits, and seeds, and to take part in an identification game of
some of them. The top prize-winner will get a mini-plant encyclopedia; and
the other winners will get a specially designed tree folder of CUHK

Tree Walk:
A guided tour of the New Asia campus flora after the talk led by
Mr. Yau Chong Kei (游中驥先生,中大前園藝組經理,三十年經驗)
Tree Planting:
At 5:15 pm, there will be planting of the offspring of a willow tree planted by
Mr. Qian Mu (錢穆先生親手種的柳樹) with the help of the Landscaping
Section, EMO
Start:
From the classroom and then to the Confucius Statue (孔子像)
Finish:
Pavilion of Harmony (新亞合一亭) for group/family photo-taking
Group size of the walk: No fixed limit (finishing with tree planting by the Class of 1979)
