About this Programme:
1. The course will be open to all who have a central role to play in teaching and student
support at DkIT.
2. There will be exit points at Certificate and Diploma.
3. Blended and flexible learning will be the main organisational/teaching strategy.
4. All modules will be embedded with e-learning elements modelling best practices
application in e-pedagogy.
5. A specific module will be provided on e-learning/e-pedagogy.
6. Work based learning and research will be incorporated into all modules through the
application of action research/case study methodologies. Deep learning, incorporating
practice-based research, will be promoted.
7. All coursework will be evidence-based.
8. Theory to practice application will be apparent in all modules.
9. Portfolio-based research showing progression and development in relevant
professional contexts/subject teaching will be prioritised.
Entry Requirements:
This programme is currently available to full time or part time DkIT staff who have a
minimum of 6-8 teaching hours per week per semester. Entry requirement for this level 9
programme will normally be a degree. The Institute’s regulations on Admissions shall apply.
Applicants who do not conform to these regulations but have wide and relevant experience in
higher education teaching or support, may be considered for admission, providing that they:
 are able to demonstrate at interview that the work they are engaged in is directly connected
to student support and/or learning at DkIT;
 are able to communicate the nature of this work, and its relevance, at a presentation made
to a panel assembled to assess the presentation; and
 are able, through a Career Portfolio submitted to a panel, to show in written form how
closely related their work is to student learning and/or support.
There would be an interview, a presentation during this interview, and submission of a
Career Portfolio evidencing role, responsibilities and achievements.

Student-centred Learning and Teaching: Models
and Strategies (Mandatory)
Aim: The aims of this module are to support
participants in the application of new insights and
strategies to practice, bring about improvements in
practice, and deepen knowledge and understanding
of student-centred learning
Enhancing Student Learning through E- pedagogy
Aim: The aim of this module is to provide participants
with an understanding of the theory, technologies and
tools that will enable them to create student-focused,
engaging and inclusive online content that can be
delivered in a blended learning environment (OR in a
variety of e- learning environments). The emphasis will
be on linking theory and practice through practical
engagement with and critical reflection on a range of
teaching tools and technologies. The module will
enable participants to migrate their teaching resources
from a traditional delivery mode to one that could be
delivered in an online setting.

Year 2 Semester 4
Improving Learning and Teaching through
Creativity and Scholarship
Aim: This module challenges participants to
become even better practitioners and researchers.
They are required to identify an area of their
practice that could be developed further, and/or
improved, using action research and critical
reflection. They will apply research from within the
relevant field of scholarship to their chosen research
area and evaluate their action plan for improvement.
Research Methods in Education/Dissertation
Preparation (Mandatory)
Aim: To provide participants with a sound
knowledge of the methodologies necessary to
complete a postgraduate research proposal and
Master’s research project, and how to prepare for
publication, for example: a conference paper; a
journal article; an article/briefing/paper for internal
dissemination and or discourse; the preparation of
learning materials/resources for future learners.
AND
Master’s Research Project (Mandatory)
Aim. This part of the Programme will enable
participants to become more effective practitioners
by further enhancing their investigative and critical
skills, while developing their expertise in preparing
and disseminating an academic paper or resource.
