International Dinner - Sacred Heart Catholic Church

Sacred Heart’s Second Annual International Dinner
Our Second Annual International Dinner was very successful. Through the diligence and hard work of the coordinator,
Millie Pajarillo, the Social Hall was turned into a culinary delight of different dishes from around the world. Millie was
blessed to have such good people helping her bring this event together. There was the late night Saturday evening
decorating party. Oh yes, she had Joseph and Lee there directing them, along with Leo of course, and they were all too
happy to assist. Joseph and Lee imported Banana Trees from the “Kentucky Tropics” and they magically grew overnight
in our courtyard and dining room. What a perfect addition to the decorations. Amber joined Millie in adding the special
touches to the tables and other decorations. Pia Mata and Judy Baker arranged and set the table settings. They truly
outdid themselves this year. Did you notice the bananas hanging in the banana trees? Then, on Sunday morning the
food starting coming in the door. Oh the delicious smells! It seems that all the parish members outdid themselves this
year in preparing a special dish or two for this dinner. So many delightful foods to choose from, and even if you only got
a spoonful, you had a full plate. This event could not have been done without the help of all of those who stood in the
serving lines and dished up the delicious delights to our visitors, to those in the kitchen that kept the food coming to the
buffet table, and to the servers on the floor making sure everyone had something to drink or an extra napkin. It is
rumored that Amber pulled Truman out of Mass to help! The dessert bar was mouthwatering to say the least! We were
blessed to have Lynne, Janie’s daughter, making some holiday themed desserts. We took her pumpkin cake and raffled it
off…our own Marielle Restar won the cake. Julie Miller managed the drink table and the raffling of the cake; while Janie
took up the tickets and money for this event. To make this event even more special, we were able to sing and wish
Happy Birthday to Ms. Youla Spano who was celebrating her 86th birthday. To be able to name everyone that did so
much to make this a success would be to name each and every parish member, so instead, we will do one great big
THANK YOU to everyone. Without the volunteers, the dedication, the laughs, the ideas, the love we have for one another
and our church, none of this would be possible. So, rest up and then start thinking of what we prepare for next year!

event for our parish community. Your commitment to the parish community and helping in making our fund raising

Family is so many ways. Janie has a list of outstanding tickets not turned in at the dinner. So, for those who still have

Our Williamson community has always supported our events and this was no exception. We all were so excited to see
our friends from the Episcopal, Presbyterian, Baptist, Church of Christ, East Williamson Baptist Church, and the two
Methodist Churches. A great time to come together around God’s table to enjoy each other’s company.
We appreciate everyone’s support!
