What should you do when…
• You come to regret something you have written
or posted online, either about yourself or
someone else?

What should you do when…
• Someone else comes to you to tell you that there’s
something you’ve posted that they think is bad or
upsetting?

• You find something bad or untrue that someone

Inappropriate Pictures
• Remember that taking, sending and even
forwarding inappropriate pictures of underage
people (including of yourself) is illegal and can
cause serious trouble for everyone involved.
• These pictures tend to spread very quickly and
could make your life at school extremely
unpleasant.
• Have a strategy ready for saying no.
– Talk about how easily the photos can spread even when you don’t intend
them to
– Talk about how being pressured to do something makes you uncomfortable
– Talk about healthier, safer ways to show trust

Do you ever think about whether a
story that someone posts on social
media is true?
What do you consider when thinking
about whether or not to trust a
post?
How do you think your reputation
might be affected if you share
stories that aren’t true?
What about if you rely on a story
and find out it’s not true?
What about Wikipedia or other
sites? Do you look somewhere else
to verify information?

Tips to remember:
• Think about all the audiences who might see the things
you are posting online.
• Remember that the bad things you say about others can
also affect your own reputation.
• If you do something that upset someone- consider
apologizing.
• If a serious problem won’t go away try talking to an adult
you trust.
• Bad information about you in a Google search doesn’t
have to last forever.
• When it comes to inappropriate photos have a
comfortable strategy for saying no.
