Coping: The covering piece on top of a wall exposed to the weather. It is usually made of metal,
masonry or stone and is sloped to carry off water and is used to waterproof the top of a parapet wall or
curb condition.

Anchor Clip: A formed aluminum or galvanized steel attachment clip (chair) used for
securing 12'-0" coping sections to the top of a parapet wall or curb condition.
Cover Plates: Formed metal pieces ranging from 3½" to 8" wide which are installed over
the joints of abutting gravel stops, copings, gutter and counterflashings to prevent water
entry and maintain joint integrity.
Parapet: A perimeter wall which extends higher than the roof level.
Splice Plates: Formed metal pieces ranging from 3½" to 8" wide which are installed
underneath the joints of abutting gravel stops, copings, gutters and counterflashings to
prevent water entry and maintain joint integrity. Splice plates provide a more aesthetically
pleasing appearance than cover plates

Gutter/Downspouts: A water carrying device at the roof edge used to collect rain water and melting
snow from a roof surface. Manufactured in a material thickness starting at .040" and 24 ga. G-90

Elbow: An angled section of downspout fabricated as an accessory item for downspout
direction changes. Available in 90° or 45° versions (standard), in Style A (angled away or
perpendicular to the wall), or Style B (angled parallel to the wall).
Expansion Joint/Gutter: A gutter accessory item which allows for substantial thermal
movement of a gutter system, particularly in large seamless runs where joints are spaced
greater than 12'-0" apart.
Outlet: A short metal tube which is installed into an opening in the bottom of a gutter or
downspout scupper. Used as a transition between the downspout sections and the water
collecting system. [also known as drop tube or drop]
Slotted Drain Bar: A heavy gauge perforated steel or aluminum bar, mounted at the
perimeter edge of a building (usually above or in conjunction with a gutter system) allowing
water to flow over the roof edge while retaining ballast, debris or pavers on the roof (Dutch
gutter, flow through gravel stop, drain bar).

End Cap: A welded or quicklocked metal piece used to close off or cap an unfinished end of
sheet metal flashing.
Miter (Inside & Outside): A fabricated accessory sometimes referred to as a corner, usually
installed at the intersection of two walls; it is produced by cutting or bending two pieces of
material and seaming them together.
Scupper: An opening in the side of a wall or sheet metal edge detail which allows water to
drain from the roof surface. Overflow scuppers are used as a secondary drainage method in
case of interior drain blockage. Spillout scuppers allow water to run directly over the edge of
a building onto another roof level or the ground. A downspout scupper (sometimes referred
to as a collector or conductor head) channels water into a downspout which carries rain
water to the ground or to a lower roof level.
T-Miter: A steel or aluminum sheet metal product which is used at the junction of
two parapet walls, where one wall terminates perpendicularly into a continuous second
wall.
Transition Miter: A steel or aluminum sheet metal product which is utilized at the junction
(corner) of two parapet walls of different wall thickness.

Anchor-Tite Fascia/Coping: Lifetime Warranty / 215 M.P.H Wind Warranty

The Lifetime, 215 mph is available on all Metal-Era manufactured Anchor-Tite products. It
covers replacement or repair of any portion of the system that has failed due to a defect in
Metal-Era supplied materials. The warranty covers the roof edge for the lifetime of the roof
on which it was originally installed.
Perma-Tite Fascia/Coping: 20 Year Warranty / 110 M.P.H Wind Warranty

The 20 Year, 110 mph Wind Warranty is available on orders to meet a project's
specification. It provides a maximum of 20 years, 110 mph coverage for the repair or
replacement of any portion of the roof edge system that has failed due to a defect in MetalEra supplied materials.
Edge Systems One: 5 Year Workmanship Warranty

The 5 Year Workmanship Warranty is available on all Metal-Era products. It covers
replacement or repair of products that are defective in material or workmanship.
An optional Warranty is available at 10 Years, 72 mph coverage. Metal-Era will not promote
this warranty option but will make it available on a job by job basis.
Kynar Finish: 30 Year Finish Warranty

The 30 Year Kynar® Finish Warranty is available on all Kynar finish products from our
standard selection. It covers the peeling, cracking, excess chalking and fading of the paint
finish.

Mill Finish Aluminum
Mill Finish Aluminum is unfinished metal in its raw state, and is widely used as the base material for
prefinished sheet metal products. Mill finish aluminum is specified for many exterior applications,
however, staining or uneven weathering may result from long term exposure to the elements.

Galvanized Steel
G-90 galvanized steel is the most widely used acceptable exterior grade steel and is the predominant
base material for prefinished Kynar coated steel products. G-90 designates that the material has been
coated with a minimum of .090 oz. of zinc per square foot, giving
the product excellent corrosion resistance. If used for exterior field painting, this product should be
allowed to weather for at least six months to allow for proper paint adhesion.

Paint Grip Steel
This sheet steel product is recommended where field painting is required on architectural sheet metal
products. Sometimes referred to as bonderized or phosphatized, this material is chemically treated with
phosphate film, providing for the good adhesion of most exterior grade paints.

70% Kynar 500
Kynar’s inherent qualities include excellent formability, high abrasion resistance, excellent weathering
qualities and resistance to ultra-violet color degradation. Because it is a low friction coating, Kynar is
considered a relatively self-cleaning coating with minimal maintenance costs; heavy rains can “wash”
the paint surface.
