7) 2016-17 Charity - Bridges of Light Foundation

Bridges of Light
Foundation
2016 – 2017 FASFAA Charity
The Bridges of Light Foundation was established in 2004 with an objective to
raise money that is distributed specifically for children who have been
abandoned, abused, neglected or at-risk.
 Current Programs:
 Great Oaks Village: A local foster care facility that houses children ages 6 to 18+, Great Oaks
Village provides housing and support for children who have been removed from their homes due
to abuse, neglect or abandonment. These children are offered continued education with the
Educational Tutoring Program (ETP), support, and mentoring.
 Carver Middle School: Partnered with Carver Middle School in Orange County to bring
tutoring, mentorship, and support to at-risk students through the Educational Tutoring Program
(ETP).
 “Closets of Care”: Teamed up with Carver Middle School to create a “Pay it Forward” incentive
program that allows students to earn “Carver Bucks” for showing initiative and kindness to fellow
students and teachers. The students can then use their “Carver Bucks” in the Closet of Care to get an
item of their choice - new/gently used clothing items, shoes, accessories, toiletries, and school supplies.
