PLANT OPERATOR Reports to: Site Manager Date approved: September 2014 Division: Eco-technology Location: AD Plant Sites Primary relationships Internal: Site manager Plant Engineers Processing Supervisors Primary relationships External: Hauliers External contractors Purpose of role To receive, sort and process safely and effectively, sufficient feedstock in order to optimise the operation of the BIOGEN AD plant. Accountabilities Performance Indicators To facilitate the smooth intake, sorting and loading operation of the BIOGEN plant on a day to day basis To ensure that at all times care is taken for your health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work. To ensure compliance with the Environmental Permit and Animal ByProducts (ABP) regulations Successful audits and inspection against standards. To ensure that the BIOGEN plant and immediate surrounding areas are clean and tidy at all times. Clean and tidy plant Efficiently receive and transfer waste from suppliers into the reception hall. Minimum turnaround time of deliveries Ensure the processing lines are operated at optimum performance Achieving maximum throughput. Perform routine checking and monitoring of the plant equipment Perform minor routine maintenance and repairs as and when required Support the processing supervisors and plant engineers in all aspects of reception hall operations, to include; weighbridge operation, banksman duties, mobile and fixed plant operation, vehicle and general cleaning Accurate and complete records. Supervisor feedback. Manager & Supervisor feedback Minimise downtime of plant equipment Regular audit and review Maximum through put of waste on a daily basis and the length of time vehicles are kept waiting kept to a minimum. Successful audits and inspection against standards. and Provide cover at other BIOGEN sites as and when required Manager & Supervisor feedback Carry out from time to time and as directed, tasks in addition to the above that are both reasonable and within your capabilities. Manager feedback Key Skills and Knowledge Ability to operate a fork lift truck and obtain a fork lift truck licence Ability to focus on priorities and main purpose of the job. Ability to carefully follow procedure and protocol. Ability to adapt plans to changing circumstances. Ability to carry out hard physical and dirty work. Self motivated and pro-active / Flexible and adaptable. Good Team Player but also happy to work on own. Relevant Experience an advantage. Safety conscious.
