First Release 27 september 2016 final data One in three persons attended a live sport event, more than half attended other live performances Social and cultural participation, Slovenia, 2015 In 2015 every other person in Slovenia attended a live performance; one in three attended a sport event. One in four persons was engaged in some artistic activity, more than half did some voluntary unpaid informal work. Two-thirds of persons were in contacts with friends every week. Every other person attended a live performance, one in three attended a live sport event In the period of one year before the survey was conducted in 2015 among persons aged 16 and over: More than half (57%) attended at least one live performance; 29% up to three performances, 28% more than three performances. Concerts, theatre plays and performances where children participated were the most visited. Live performances were visited more by those with tertiary education (78%) and by those with the highest incomes (76%); 37% of persons went to cinema; 12% of them more than three times. Young people and students went to cinema more frequently; One in three persons attended live sport events. Live sport events were more interesting for men; 40% of them attended sport events at least once and 22% more than three times. 23% of women attended sport events at least once and 10% more than three times; 44% of persons visited cultural or historical sites; 26% of them more than three times. Castles, churches, museums and art galleries were the most visited. Among young people (16 to 24 years) every other (51%) visited those sites at least once; also 34% of older persons (65 or more years) visited cultural or historical sites. More than half of the population helps other people voluntarily In the period of one year before the survey was conducted in 2015 among persons aged 16 and over: 55% of persons did some voluntary informal unpaid activities, such as helping other people (e.g. taking care of people in hospital/at home, cooking, cleaning for others, repairing, taking people for a walk, transporting them, etc.), helping animals or cleaning the environment. 10% did not do any of such work because of lack of interest, 16% had lack of time and 20% did not do it because of other reasons; 30% of persons did some unpaid non-compulsory work for or through an organization, a formal group or a club; more men (34%) than women (27%). One in four persons engaged in some artistic activity In 2015 in spare time (as a hobby) 26% of persons aged 16+ were engaged in some artistic activity. Most of them were engaged in handcraft (10%), followed by singing or dancing (7%). In their spare time 6% of persons were engaged in photography or making videos and 5% played an instrument. Integration with friends, relatives remains high In 2015, 67% of persons aged 16+ had weekly contacts with friends via telephone, SMS, Internet, mail, etc., which is 9 percentage points more than in 2006. The share of persons who were in contacts with relatives increased by 13 percentage points (2006: 51%; 2015: 64%). Consequently, the share of those who got together with friends slightly lowered, by 4 percentage points (from 59% in 2006 to 55% in 2015). The share of persons who got together with relatives during this period has not changed (46%).
