Buyers - Lupulin Exchange

Buyers
General
1. How does buying work? Try this.
2. Where can I find the status of my order? Simply login and go to My
Account.
3. Can I ask the seller a question? Yes. We have a built in messaging system
that allows you to communicate directly with sellers.
4. How do I know I will receive hops I order on The Exchange? Every seller
agrees to the following statement before their listing goes live: “These hops
are either in my possession or remaining inventory from a contract that I
have with a broker. I understand How This Works, have read and agree to the
Terms of Use and understand that I am entering into a legally binding contract
with a buyer(s) once any buyer(s) clicks checkout to purchase this listing." If
a seller fails to fulfill your order within 14 days, the order will automatically
be canceled and you will be issued a full refund.
5. How do I know the hops I buy on The Exchange have been stored
properly? Every seller agrees to the following statement before their listing
goes live: I agree that the hops being listed have already been processed, are
available for immediate shipment, are completely sealed (unopened boxes, no
punctures) in original packaging, and have been stored cold. This is a legally
binding contract between buyer and seller.
6. I am a speculator/hop reseller. Can I use The Lupulin Exchange? No. Our
purpose is to serve brewers, not resellers. Read more here.
7. There’s a problem with my order – what should I do? First, message the
seller to let them know about the issue. If you need our help resolving the
issue, just let us know. Be sure to include the order number in question.
Shipping
1. How long will it take my hops to arrive? Hops are shipped by the seller or
by their broker after your payment has cleared. Some payments clear in
minutes and others take days. The seller (or their broker) has up to 14 days
from the moment you checkout to ship the hops. We will send them plenty of
reminders, but if they fail to ship with 14 days, the order is automatically
cancelled and you will receive a full refund.
2. Can I overnight my hops? No. Sellers and brokers usually ship hops within a
few days, but they have up to 14 days to ship.
3. Do I have to have a UPS account? Yes, unless the order is large enough to
ship LTL. In most cases, the seller (or their broker) will bill shipping charges
to your UPS account.
Payment
1. How do I know my payment will be processed correctly and securely?
We use an integrated payment platform. With WePay, all funds are verified,
cleared, and held in escrow until the hops are shipped. A secure transaction
is guaranteed.
2. Can I pay with a bank account/ACH? Yes. Look for the pay with bank link
instead of entering a credit card number. Our payment processor (WePay)
will guide you through the process, which includes sending micro deposits to
your account to verify that the account belongs to you.
3. How does The Lupulin Exchange make money? Nobody’s getting rich
here. Details here.
Registration
1. My brewery is outside of the US. Can I buy hops on The Exchange?
Canadian breweries can register an account and purchase hops. Only US
breweries can sell hops because our payment processor requires a valid US
bank account to retrieve funds from hop sales. Our payment processor does
not currently support any other international transactions.
Hop Alerts
1. What’s a hop alert? It’s a free service that notifies you when varieties you
want are listed for sale. Read more here.
2. I got an alert, but the listing was already sold out; why is that? When
a listing posts, our hop alert immediately sends to all subscribers. Hot
varieties usually sell out within minutes, so you'll need to act fast.
3. Can you process a standing order to automatically buy hops? Sorry,
we can't do that.
Sellers

1. How does selling work? Try this.
2. Can I ask the buyer a question? Yes. We have a built in messaging system
that allows you to communicate directly with buyers.
3. I am an independent hop grower. Can I list my hops on The Lupulin
Exchange? Yes, as long as you’re not under an exclusive contract with a
major hop broker. If you are an independent grower who is interested in
listing your hops on The Exchange, please contact us at 405-534-HOPS
(4677) or [email protected] to set up an account. We can also
supply you with a free Order Management system and/or power your online
store.
4. I am a speculator/hop reseller. Can I use The Lupulin Exchange? No. Our
purpose is to serve brewers, not resellers. Read more here.
5. There’s a problem with my order – what should I do? First, message the
buyer to let them know about the issue. If you need our help resolving the
issue, just let us know. Be sure to include the order number in question.
Shipping
1. Who pays for shipping? The buyer always pays for shipping. In most cases,
the buyer’s UPS account will be billed for shipping charges. However, some
brokers will only bill sellers’ accounts for shipping fees. If you sell hops that
are warehoused at a broker who bills you for shipping, buyers are required
to reimburse you (for details, see #5 below).
2. If I sell hops that are stored at my brewery, how do I ship them? You will
receive a Purchase Order when another brewer buys your hops. The PO will
include detailed instructions to create a shipment and bill the receiver. For
small orders, you will need a UPS Shipping Account. For LTL shipments, we
will give you similar options to set up the shipment and bill the receiver.
3. If I sell hops that are stored at a broker’s warehouse, how do they ship?
We will create a Purchase Order for you to review and submit to your broker.
This PO will include the buyer’s shipping address.
4. I’m having trouble shipping with MY UPS account. What should I do? A
UPS Shipping Account is necessary to create a shipment and bill the receiver.
This is not the same as a MY UPS account. You can use the Open a Shipping
Account
link at the bottom of UPS.com. You can also use their Live Chat
system if you need help setting up an account or creating a shipment.
5. I was billed for shipping charges. How do I get reimbursed? If you sell
hops warehoused at a broker who bills you for shipping charges, you need to
request reimbursement for these fees from your buyers, which is easy to do
through our site (and the buyers have already agreed to reimburse you). You
can Request Reimbursement using the button on the right side of each
completed order screen in the My Account > Sold area. Write a short note to
the buyer and enter the amount they owe you. Buyers will follow a link in
the email they receive and deposit payment directly into your WePay
account. You will be notified when you receive these payments.
