The production of dairy products also increased Milk and milk products, Slovenia, 2016 In 2016, 575,000 tons of milk were collected from agricultural holdings (almost 4% more than in 2015). Dairies increased the production of most milk products; acidified milk production increased by more than 15% and butter production by more than 5%. More milk collected from farms In 2016 almost 575,000 tons of milk were collected from agricultural holdings (almost 4% more than in 2015). The share of milk collected from Slovene dairies increased slightly (after years of decline). 364,000 tons of milk were collected by Slovene dairies (more than 7% increase over the previous year). Drinking milk production up by more than 1% In 2016, more than 157,000 tons of drinking milk were produced. Drinking milk production increased slightly for the fourth consecutive year. For the last three years annual cream production was slightly above 12,000 tons Cream production in 2016 was slightly lower than in the previous year. In the last three years dairies produced around 12,100 tons of cream each year. Strong increase in the production of acidified milk In 2016 almost 34,300 tons of acidified milk were produced. Compared to the previous year production increased by around 4,600 tons (by more than 15%). Production of milk powder still low Already relatively low production of milk powder decreased slightly also in 2016. Compared to 2015, butter production up by more than 5% In 2016 almost 2,400 tons of butter and other yellow fat dairy products (in butter equivalent) were produced. Cheese production slightly higher than in 2015 The total quantity of cheese produced in 2016 was more than 15,500 tons, which was 0.3% more than in the previous year. Milk on the international market We invite you to have a look at the data on the »EU Milk Market Observatory« site, where you will be able to find the latest data on the prices and quantity of milk and milk products. In the last few months milk production in the EU dropped below the 2015 levels, while raw milk prices are rising. Of the countries in the region Slovenia increased its milk deliveries the most, followed by Italy. In Austria and Hungary the quantity of delivered milk didn't change much, while in Croatia it dropped by more than 6%. Detailed data on production of milk and milk products at the end of June Detailed data on production of milk and milk products will be published at the end of June 2017. In this release we will also publish data on fat and protein content in milk and milk products and on its imports and exports.
