Local News
Current performance:
EYFSP 2014 – 62% of all children achieved a good level of development,
compared to 60% nationally. However, only 39% of children in receipt of free
school meals achieved a GLD, leaving a widening attainment gap of 27%
compared to 19% last year and this years national of 19%.
Data highlights following issues/areas of focus for us to consider, i.e.:• Children eligible for free school meals
• Boys especially in emerging reading and writing
• BME children and children with English as an additional language
• Target groups in communication and language development
• Target groups in personal, social and emotional development
• Target groups in mathematical development
• Children with summer birthdays
Quality of provision is still Good with
• 75% of all providers of early education and
childcare are currently Good or
Outstanding, 1% above the national
average.
• Of those providing funded places 86% are
Good or Outstanding.

• Many graduates of 2 yr old EYE will be
eligible – speak to parents in settings.
• Checks carried out in the term before a
