MFR003: Freiband – True Type
Freiband is one of the many projects by Frans de Waard, one of the Dutch masters of experimental electronic
music.
For True Type he has not made new music but he selected mp3 releases that
needed a proper release because of quality. The 4 selected releases we find here
are Reflection previously released on the now defunct mp3 label techNOH, the
release Parallel for the 12K side label Term., remixes for the now defunct
.Tiln/Antiopic mp3 label and EARLabs released on the now defunct mp3 label
EARLabs (still working as review site) which contains remixes of the music by Jos
Smolders.
The music is now finally available in full quality as it was supposed to be.
True Type is a lovely collection of music which shows the diversity in Freiband’s
take on pop music.
ABOUT Freiband
Freiband is the project by Frans de Waard, also founding member of Kapotte Muziek, Beequeen, Goem and
many more, with a focus on glitches. He first started this project, inspired by Asmus Tietchens work
Daseinsverfehlung, after recording a beequeen album of which he manipulated the hard disk recordings and
played these back. The result was warm glitchy popmusic, which took the original recordings completely out of
context. Because all the pops and blips in the music Frans de Waard calls this music popmusic.
In 2001 the first Freiband cd Microbes was released by Ritornell, following many others on varying labels.

ABOUT MOVING FURNITURE RECORDS
Moving Furniture Records was founded in October 2008 with the idea in mind of giving more unknown
musicians a platform for releasing music. MFR is run by Sietse van Erve, who is based in Amsterdam, The
Netherlands. He asks musicians he likes to hear if they want to do a release. For the start all the releases will be
in limited runs of 100.
