The Schedule
11:00am Meet at Mudchute Farm (please see location map)
Mandatory health and safety briefing
11:30am Go kart building: you have 3.5 hours to create the best go-karts in
London. Plenty of great prizes are up for grabs
There’s no official lunch break as we’ll be having too much fun building
go karts (bring your own food, drinks will be provided).
3pm The Race. Bring it on!
3.45pm Award ceremony
4pm Finish
The Rules
1. Groups should comprise 6-8 young people and two adult leaders/workers.
2. Groups should be inclusive, fielding teams of varying ages, ethnicity and ability.
Maximum age for team members is 16 years.
3. Groups should supply their kart driver/s with a cycling helmet and gloves.
4. No preconstruction is permitted ahead of the event – other than adornments such as
horns and flags.
5. A photo consent form must be completed prior to the event as we will be inviting the
media and using images for publicity. See below.
6. Drinks will be supplied by London Play but groups must bring their own lunches and
snacks.
7. Karts can only be raced once a London Play team member has issued a ‘safe to race’
licence. Karts unable to race can still win other prizes based on design and decoration.
8. Groups must clear up their work areas before the racing begins and all karts must be
taken home by their groups at the end of the day.
We have enough timber, paints, bolts, washers and nails for everyone. We would ask groups to let
us know if they have their own wheels to ensure we buy exactly what we need on the day.
We have a limited number of tools so if you want to avoid sharing bring your own - don’t forget to
fully charge up drill batteries etc as there will be no power available on site.
