• Multi-phase Construction to improve the residence life experience, Shea-Durgin Hall at Bridgewater State College
a 1960’s building with 620 beds and lounge areas on its five bedroom floors, was identified
for renovations over three consecutive summers. Integrated Design Group designed and
proposed a detailed construction phasing over two summers, reducing general condition
costs and directing more funds for actual construction. Phase 1 included upgrades to
primary electric service and asbestos removal of floor tile. Phase 2 reconfigured and rebuilt
all bathrooms, reorganized bedrooms, and constructed lounge and study spaces, with light
and views of the campus. The bed count rose to 640 while multiple common areas were
created. A freshman residence hall, it is now sought after by many students after a year of
living there.
