This map shows potential for wind power
generation, based on topography, aspect, land use,
proximity to cities, wind speed, and wetlands. The
higher the score, the more wind energy might be
produced in that area. In general, ridgelines and
higher elevations that catch prevailing winds and are
in areas with more open space score higher.
Although the region receives less wind than some
parts of the US, technology that can produce energy
with lower wind speeds could have a good fit in
many agricultural areas of NE Ohio.
This map was produced by the Agroecosystems Management Program of the Ohio Agricultural
Research and Development Center and Ohio State University Extension, with partnership and
funding from the Fund for Our Economic Future.
