Guidelines
All students completing grades 11 and 12 are eligible for the ISA diploma, provided they meet the
requirements defined in the student agenda and the “IB Diploma Course Descriptions” guide.
Students taking the full IB Diploma Programme must take three Higher Level (HL) subjects and
three Standard Level (SL) subjects. To begin HL classes, students are typically expected to have
completed an MYP course (or its equivalent) and achieved an achievement grade of 5 or higher.
The full IB Diploma is based on following groups:
Group One – Language and Literature
Group Four – Experimental Sciences
Group Two – Language Acquisition
Group Five – Mathematics
Group Three – Individuals and Societies
Group Six – The Arts
ISA offers a wide range of courses for IB Diploma Programme and IB Course Programme students.
However, it is important to recognize that not every combination of courses can be available for all
students. If two classes meet at the same time, a student will have to choose a course that is his or
her higher priority. This is the purpose of our “silo” system. Fortunately, we are able to offer a
schedule of courses that allows students to take our most popular, and most practical,
combination of courses. Please note that course availability is subject to sufficient enrollment and
capacity.
Instructions
Students must choose one subject from each of the “silos” listed on the reverse of this page. If
they are pursuing the full IB Diploma Programme, they must be careful to choose a sufficient
number of HL and SL courses from the appropriate groups. Please also indicate alternative
course options in case of rare circumstance where we would not be able to accommodate your
first choice course options.
